Looking at the shield and the new version is only 19$ more at my dealer. Is the new one worth the upgrade or save the 19$ for ammo

2.0 has better grip and better trigger, worth it in my opinion.

Which caliber? The 2.0 Grip is super! That alone is well worth the $19. If you want a 9mm, get the 2.0, no question. If 45acp, keep reading-
I bought the new 45 (no apex triggers yet on the new version until maybe dec/jan) so if I had to do it over again tomorrow I might get the 9mm so I could put in an Apex trigger.
Apex has 9mm shield 2.0 and 1.0 triggers so no worry there.

Thumb safety or no? I can get the the safety version a little cheaper and I am used to carrying Glocks but I am also used to carrying 1911’s so my grip on my dominant hand is used to flagging high, ready to sweep the safety.

I don’t like safeties on full size striker fired guns but don’t mind it on the shield, it’s minimal in size, very positive and easier to disengage than engage so accidental engagements is a non-issue for me. It stays off most of the time but I enjoy having the safety when I remove the gun to run into a 30.06 establishment and don’t want to unholster.

Get the 2.0. The trigger is much better than the 1.

I think I’d like to go with the safety versio due to the fact that I can leave it off if I want or leave it on if I need to. I am getting down to brass tacks on prices verse gen 1 and 2.

The first generation is still a good carry gun, and if the price difference was around $100, I would have to think long and hard on it. But for twenty bucks more, I would definitely get the second generation.

Yes in my humble opinion, the 2.0 is well worth the extra $ .
I don't like the safety on either version, it is very difficult to disengage easily, and would be even more so, in a stressful situation. If they had put the same type of thumb safety, on the standard shield, as they did on the 380 EZ I wouldn't have an issue, but trying to disengage it, is not quick or effecient. JMHO

In the two years that Ive carried the shield 1.0 (safety version) not once has it moved from what ever i set it on. Safety ON or safety Off. I carry it in six different holster and same on every one. No accidental on or off.
