I'm just curious on what position people like to carry their firearm?? And says if its IWB or owb

Mines usually 4:00 IWB and about 4-4:30 OWB. If its OC then it's right at 3-3:30

Almost exclusively OWB @ 3:00-3:30

2:30ish? Usually lines up with my pocket on my jeans. Forces me to keep my cellphone on the other side not to flash the pistol but at least it's not digging into my pesky hips. As far as IWB/OWB, I always go ambidextrous on my holsters. More options and less of them to break in.

The thinner my clothing the closer to 4:00-4:30 I get and the smaller the pistol. The heavier my clothing gets the closer to 3:00 I get. So far exclusively IWB. Wanting to test OWB in the near future.

Lite tshirt gets the G43 at 4-ish.
heavy tshirt/henley gets the G26 at 3:30.
over shirt or jacket can get the G17 at 3:10 (just barely behind the center point of my hip)

I vary a little between weapons too. My p226 weighs a metric ton. On the rare occasion I carry it, it stays pretty much at 3:00. Just seems more stable further back. I also much prefer it OWB because it's so bulky although some of my "fat jeans" will accommodate it.

I want my firearm to be at the same position every day all day if possible with the obvious exception of when I must disarm. I believe this will make the draw stroke much easier to execute without deliberation. The only variable for me is whether or not I have to pull back a cover shirt which is always worn unbuttoned.

Muscle memory in a stressful situation is all you will have to rely on. Having to think about the location of your firearm, wastes precious seconds you may not have. JMHO.

Other than my BUG which is pocket carried, no matter what I carry, it will be in the 4:00-4:30 area.

The only place I get to actually draw and fire is IDPA (which I need to be doing more of). My dry firing at home doesn't seem to be affected too much by location. Further back is slower but I'd have to have it on a timer to notice a difference. The style of garment I wear changes my draw some. tshirt vs button up is surprisingly different. I suspect because of the type of material? Most button ups seem to slide up the body better. I have yet to find a holster/belt combo so good that I forget where my pistol is at. I sometimes get comfortable enough that I don't ever think about it, but I've never lost track of one on my belt. :-)

IWB at 3:30 - 4:00. Typically as far forward as possible before it gets into my hipbone, so that I can wear it comfortably and the grip stays tight against my lower back so that it doesn't poke out my cover garment or require for me to take it off in order to drive my car.

4:00 IWB. 3:00 OWB. Used to carry a Shield at 3:00 IWB. It was okay, but started to dig in my hip after a while. I now carry most of the time OWB. I only carry IWB if I need to be sure of remaining concealed for some reason.

Normally 3-3:30 OWB for me, I JUST purchased the alien gear cloak tuck 3.0 IWB and Cloak Mod OWB to add to my collection so I will be experimenting a bit but will probably stick to 3 o'clock.

Presently, I carry a commander length 1911 OWB 100% of the time at about 3:30-4 so I can still use my front pocket. Back when I was IWB carrying, it was at 4-5 because that's where the alien gear felt the most comfortable.

I don't think I'll ever be comfortable enough to carry appendix. 2 reasons...

1. I'm moderately fat and I can't sit properly with a weapon in that position.
2. If I ever do have an accidental / negligent discharge, I would rather it be to the side of my leg or through my booty as opposed to through my femoral artery or my jiblets ;-)
