Suggestions for 1911 in the $500 to $700 range. I was looking at the Springfield 1911 milSpec or Para USA Expert Commander Handgun or Kimber Custom II Two-Tone Handgun

CDNN is offering the Para 1911 Expert Commander for $479.89, which to me, sounds like a great deal:

Bud's gun shop is offering the Springfield 1911 milSpec for $596.00:

Both are great guns from what I've read, although I've never owned either pistol. I'd take either one in a heartbeat, if I were in the market. ;-)

I have had really good luck with RIA. I have a regular full size 1911 as well as the Compact Tactical. My son also has a FS RIA. Mine have shot anything I feed them and at 25 yards and under POA is POI. They shoot as good (or better) than my Colt Series 70.

In the roughly 700 range I'd recommend the Springfield range officer all day long
Want to spend less than that the the ria is a great bargain, I've got a 9mm tactical that is solid and tighter than my ruger

Of those 3, the Springfield would be the better-quality; I have little trust for Kimber or Para. Look into the slighter better models for a little more cash eg. Loaded model.

I own a RIA Tactical 1911 - over 47,000 rounds later it's still ticking like a Swiss watch but I put a fair amount of work into it (not that it needed it but because I wanted to).

Full-sized Ruger might be nice - but Springfield would still beat either of those two. Also look into the Sig Beiruty mentioned; they're a little non-standard eg. extractor but good guns.

The Ruger appears to be in the 800 range after tax. More than I wanted to spend.
