Recommend me a holster for my first 1911
So, a few weeks ago I picked up my first 1911, a Springfield Loaded Champion in stainless. Its off at Springfield's custom shop getting bobtailed, new night sights, and refinished, so I am holster shopping while it is gone. I've already got an Alien Gear IWB on the way, and I would like to find a nicer leather OWB for it as well. So, I'd like to see some recommendations. It must be for lefties and be concealable. I'm not a big fan of the snap on OWB holsters. It would be nice if I could get it for under $100, but I can pay more for something really nice or custom.

For leather, look up the Milt Sparks Nexus, or Criterion. Both are fantastic (I own a nexus and have a criterion on order) Very fine holsters, to say the least.
Don't own a Grizzle, but have only heard good things about him as well. You might check out the 1911 forum before ordering- a million suggestions in their holster forum

I've owned Sparks & Hume, Sparks was stolen lately, Grizzle looks hard to beat for the money.

I would recommend looking at a Pure Kustom Black Ops Pro. It is $175 but is IWB/OWB and has at least 27 adjustments you can make for depth and cant

OP- since you are lefty, try one of the stocking dealers for Sparks and others... I've bought a few that way over the years. Lightning Arms Sports (Craig) stocks a lot of LH leather. Yoast listed RH only, and I don't know much about Top Gun Supply, but they are listed as a dealer.

I wish I could recommend from experience but I'm in your situation and about to purchase my first holster for a full size 1911. After doing my research and reading all the associated reviews, I have settled on Tucker Gunleather for both holster and belt. I'm leaning heavily toward the pancake for OWB concealability but the HF1 has caught my eye too. I'll have to make a final decision before I place my order this evening.

I had an email conversation with them last year about that very subject and they recommended the HF1 as a concealment holster based on the way they've built the loops - its supposed to pull tighter to the body.karatedad wrote:I wish I could recommend from experience but I'm in your situation and about to purchase my first holster for a full size 1911. Good choice, but I don't know as there is a wrong one when it comes to him!

Strike that. I didn't see you were looking for OWB.
