My question is I purchased my wife a handgun from Buds Handgun Shop with my credit card , and it will be shipped to Houston Armory -FFL . How can I change the gun from my name too her name ?

Is the card in her name or both your names. If both not seeing the issue.
If not. why don't you just have her pick it up?

There's no registration in the State of Texas, so really there's no "the handgun is her name" or "the handgun is in my name" as far as the gubm'nt goes. Is that what you're worried about?

The only issue may be if the FFL in Houston sees the gun was shipped to you versus her, then they may not allow her to fill out the paperwork to obtain it.

Since it's your wife, as long as she can legally posses the hndgun I would just go in and fill out the paperwork to obtain it for yourself, then you legally can give it to her as a gift. Sure beats buying her jewelry any day IMO!

It really does not make any difference. I filled out the 4473s for all of my wife's handguns she will ever use. Non-issue. There is no such thing as registration in Texas.

I will also add a question. Did she participate in the handgun selection process? YOu might be purchasing another one if she does not like the one you bought (picked out). Just throwing his out there from experience sake. I do not buy her jewelry or clothes anymore either.

It doesn't matter whose name is on the 4473 for the purposes of a CHL class. The only reason for her to do the paperwork is for her to say that she bought the gun herself, which is not a prerequisite.

My wife did that with her two guns. She insisted on doing the 4473, because that meant they were "hers" and I couldn't swipe them from her.

Yes she picked the gun she wanted the first time a 9mm 709 and said it had to much recoil so , she wanted a smaller caliber 32 .

Hopefully she has shot the same .32 make and model before you ordered. Many smaller caliber guns are also lighter and the perceived recoil is as much or more than a larger caliber and gun.

As Keith B said, as long as she can legally own and you're not making a straw man purchase, you're good to go.

Strange, this does not seem to work in reverse. I've lost two .22s and a Beretta 9mm that way...

The only issue here is who picks up the gun. Since it was ordered by the husband and paid for by his card, the order from Buds to the FFL will have HIS name for the purchaser. The FFL should not allow her to complete the 4473 and pick up the gun.

I have dealt with this exact scenario while in the employ of an FFL in the recent past.
