Any Podcast Listeners?

I enjoy listening to podcasts during my commute or when I work out. My favorite firearm related ones are " The Handgun World Show Podcast" with Bob Mayne and "The Gun Dudes" with, well, the gun dudes. I would love to add a couple more to my rotation and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions?

the armed ape, Canadian reload radio, carry-talk, firearms cafe, the frugal shooter, gun guy radio, gun nation podcast, gun runner podcast, guns and patriots, the new shooter podcast, on target radio and rimfire podcast to name but a few. Check out the gun rights radio network, they have a load on there.

As a practicing troglodyte, I don't know what a "Podcast" is...?

Is it a science fiction movie plot, featuring Pods left under your bed to replace you with an even more unpleasant copy of yourself.

A podcast is like a daily/weekly/monthly radio show, only you don't listen to them over the radio airwaves - you download them to your computer/mp3 player over the internet.

Holy cow! What a great idea! Someone should send an email to Google and let them know about it.

There are 4 podcast networks I feel worth mentioning to the firearms enthusiast:

These four represent most, if not all, firearm podcasts that are part of a network. There are still independant podcasts out there, however I am not going to name the only one I can think off because I don't want to come off as self serving.

Thank everyone...I know there are tons out there, but even on the bigger networks quality can vary wildly, and there is often no easy way to tell who the better/more popular ones are. There are only so many you can sample. Just curious about peoples favorites...and G.A., I will see if I can track yours down. Got a title to share? Nothing wrong with a little self promotion on occasion!

Are Podcasts akin to blogs, or You tube, but strictly verbal?

If so, presumably there are few commercials to listen to?

As who enjoys listening to audio books, I can see where Podcasts may have value if the speaker knows his subject well, speaks clearly and doesn't make amateurish verbal errors, i.e., constantly saying "you know" or issuing long "ahs" between sentences.

I've read a few blogs. The vast majority were mediocre to embarrassingly bad with a few here and there that were excellent. I'm guessing Podcasts are similar?

There are both audio and video podcasts, video podcasts tend to have their video available on Youtube. Some have commercials, some don't. The first thing you learn about podcast hosts is that each has their own quirks and almost none are professional. To me that is one of the draws of a podcast is that you get to hear from a regular type instead of a bought and paid for host/expert in many cases, although there are many professional/expert podcast hosts such as Tom Gresham, Massad Ayoob, Kenn Blanchard, ect.

I like Tom Gresham Gun Talk Radio which you can podcast. It has 3 segments about 45 minutes each. There are a few commercials from his sponsors but you can fast forward through them.
