Contingency Planning

#1

Post by wconn33 »

As these school shooting are starting to become a trend I wanted to start some discussion on how to go about preventing or limiting the amount of damage a gunman/gunmen are able to do in our schools. The main goal is to try to prevent another tragedy like this from happening again. I do not want to see any more gun restrictions rammed down our throats so I would like our community to be proactive.

My thoughts are probably expensive but no more so than schools building new million dollar stadiums for sports, not that there is anything wrong with that. I would like to see a Panic type room for each school wing. Also evacuation routes that get the kids out of the normal travel lanes that a shooter will be using. I believe there are ways to implement good safe measures we just need to start brain storming them.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Bullet-proof walls that drop down from the ceiling, raise up from the ground (or do both), or that come out of the walls. Have this every 20 feet to compartmentalize the hallways. Sure students and teachers will be trapped in them, but so will the gunman (hopefully in a compartment all to himself). When the police are ready to respond, they can lower them one by one to get the teachers and students out and to also get to the gunman who will have probably already committed suicide.

Schools can give written authorization to carry. If they don't then the contingency plan should be home school.

Allowing legal CHL is always a good option but I was thinking of getting something together that we could pitch to the schools that does not take legislative measurements to implement. Sure I am all for getting rid of the gun free zone, but right now I would like to look at other options. The main goal is to keep children as safe as possible.

Schools can give written authorization to carry. That does not take legislative measurements to implement. You can build the highest walls in the kingdom but that doesn't help if they let a murderous relative of a teacher inside the walls. Only the will and tools to fight back help then.

not really a trend. people have been blowing things up and kill each other sence the begining of time. the methods used change with the times. the news now travles faster then ever as our world shrinks day after day. there has been many sad events, geneside, murders, mass death. its hard for us all no doubt, i just make a choice to be more proactive then the majority about making it home at night.
if everone took the same steeps then the problems would be reduced

Cain used a rock

That should be justification enough for everyone else to carry a rock, or a pointy stick, or.....

Evil has to be fought with not "equal", but greater force.

We have got to get a handle on the soul of America.... not just individually, but collectively. In the mean time, watch your back, and always have the longer, pointier stick.

That's my thoughts on contingency planning, and I'm sticking to them.

No offense, but the Bible is too important to me to have it misquoted.

I stand corrected.... I'll shut up

on second thought... I won't shut up.... I don't care if Cain use a rock, pointy stick, his bare hands, or a Tech9..... it was still a heart of EVIL. That is what has to be changed. And I will NOT stop stressing that point.

Most recently-built schools have used cinder blocks (often dual layer), and those stop everything but high-powered rifle cartridges. Every room is a panic room. Doors are often steel-core with heavy duty steel deadbolts. You're not looking to evacuate anything with shooters in the building. There are more protocols in place that I don't want to get into, but preparation for this stuff does exist. One of the major problems is that the facilities have far too many entry points to be considered secure or at the very least monitored.

It's scary to think about. The school is the single most valuable facility in every town in the United States by virtue of the fact that the community's children are inside. There's more effort to protect your Wal-Mart than your child's school.

I think we need to ban high capacity schools. They cause more problems than they are worth. Maniacs wouldn't target them if schools only held 12 kids.

My boss said that at the school his daughter attends, they have a volunteer school patrol program for parents. every day there are a group of parents who roam the schools making sure doors are closed properly, enforcing the safety rules, ensuring people have proper identification, etc. I think its an excellent idea even though these individuals are not armed. I do not have children so i dont know if this is a common thing at schools but the idea caught my attention.

Where? Chicago? San Francisco? District of Columbia?

Surprise! Texas is not the whole world.

"Legislative measurements?" Republicans in Washington measure as old, chubby, white, men.

What did Jesus say to Simon Peter after cutting off the servants ear? He said "put your sward away." Peter stood down, returning his sward to his scabbard. Jesus was okay with open carry.
