Got a new XDM what do you think about them?

Swapped for a new XDm compact today, havent shot it yet but it feels good. What are your opinions good and bad. Always like to hear from someone that has experience with a certain firearm. I do like the idea of 17 rounds of 40 cal in that small of a package. Might have to get me a new holster made!

I shot the XDm 4.5" (9mm) and really like it.
Very easy shooting weapon.

I've heard good things about them. Thought of getting one myself but it seems that a 1911 catches my eye every time. It's still on my list so maybe one of these days I'll actually buy one. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! :fire

What is that round thing on the bottom of the magazine? And the two in the middle on the left? Is that the case those things come in from the factory or did you do that yourself?

Nice case. What am I missing here? Round collars on "larger" mags to fill the space on a grip that is "not" round? If I put something on the end of one of my mags for my G21 and then inserted that mag into my G30 it won't make a bit of difference because the larger mag will already be sticking way out of the grip. I sorry I'm not seeing this. :headscratch

It's to fill the space between the gun and the standard mag's baseplate to prevent over insertion of the mag during a slide lock reload and breaking the ejector thereby putting the gun out of commission. They are rounded to match the shape of the grip of the gun. You can get them for Glocks they are shaped like a piece of 2X4. "rlol"

Ahh, optical illusion. I couldn't tell they were oblong and have not seen on before.

Hey now! I'm tempted to go get a piece and see for myself. ;-)

My first gun was a the original XDm in 9mm. Great gun. Ran trouble free for quite a few rounds.

I would have kept it if it had fit my hand better.

I bought a stainless XDm-45 Compact 3.8 about 3 weeks ago. I really like the gun a lot. Of all of my .45s (Kahr CW45, M&P45 fullsized, Springfield 1911A1-Loaded, and now the XDm), the XDm is the softest shooting of the bunch, despite being the second smallest. If I had to choose just one .45, I'd probably keep the 1911 and ditch the others, but fortunately I don't have to make that choice. The CW45 is my EDC because it is so small, light, and flat.....and reliable. The steel framed 1911 is the heaviest of the four (but it is also the most accurate and has the best trigger), so I don't carry it very often. I like the M&P45 a lot, and it is very 1911-like in ergonomics (except for the trigger), but it is a fairly large gun and heavier than the other two, and not as practical for EDC because of it.

The XDm 45c happily fills the niche between the small CW45 and the full-sized M&P. The weight is closer to the M&P than it is to the CW45, but it also has a higher capacity and better sights. The CW conceals better, but the XDm conceals well enough.....about the same as a Glock 19, but with much better grip frame.

All in all, I like it a lot. BTW, I bought a set of Trijicon HD sights. They are WAAAAYYYY better than the OEM sights: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=56102" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

7 XDs, 20,000+ rounds, zero failures. I like em. ;-)
