Sig 556 Patrol SWAT or 6940?

About to place an order on one of the two soon. Prices are $1289 for the 556 SWAT and $1242 for the 6940. How would you rate one versus the other on:

- Reliability
- Durability
- Cleaning ease
- Accuracy

I guess most rail mounted accessories for the AR would fit the rails on the 556. I am a bit concerned about the short gas system of the Patrol model. Valid?

Thanks!

There's a 6940 for 900+ in the for sale section of this Forum.

EDIT: Sorry, I was mistaken, it is a Colt 6920:

I don't know about the Colt but I have a 556 that I've been fairly pleased with.
Just remember, its a battle rifle...not a precision shooter.
You should expect minute of MAN more than MOA.
Its not terrible by any means as far as accuracy and I think most of my issues came down to having the scope rings cranked down way too tight. I had to send my upper back to Sig after I broke off one of the screw housings in the top rail. I have yet to get back to the range once figuring out that I had my rings too tight.
As far as reliability, I have only had one FTF but that was due to a bad primer. I may have had one or two FTE but they are very few and far between. I've got 2000-3000 rounds though mine and it has been ok so far.
Cleaning is a breeze and it doesn't even need to be cleaned as often as some people think they need to clean their weapons.
I'm not sure I'd buy another one but I'm pleased with the one I have.
Here is a little report I put together on the 556 and accuracy.

Do you want an AR or a Sig 556?

SIG 556, which I own one, is heavier and once accessorized and scoped it would be more heavy. Make sure you hit the Gym. lift some irons and have Biceps like those of Arnold. Good shooter and loves the 62gr bullets.

He speaks the truth. Its not light, but its not terrible either, just make sure you get a comfortable sling if you're going to be walking around with this at the lease or something like that.

I already have a 6920 but am getting ready to add another 5.56 before prices rising again. It's a PITA to clean the AR so I was thinking maybe getting something else that's a bit easier to clean. I don't like more weight though so maybe will swing for the 6940 instead... :???:

If you don't like cleaning your AR think about getting a 6940P. With the piston there is no fowling on the bolt group. So nice shooting 1000 rounds and just wipe the bolt down and clean the barrel. I hated cleaning my Bushmaster and since I got the 6940p the Bushmaster has not left the case.

sig on all except accuracy. I have had several AR's and the sig is just better in most categories.

If I could get an aftermarket barrel for the Sig that would make this a better shooter it would be a fantastic weapon since the reliability is already in place.

Reliability makes up for it IMHO. Thousands of rounds without FTF or FTE when using non herters steel ammo.

FWIW, the FTF/FTE were on my first outing where I ran about 300 Monarch Steel Cased though it.
