I have my FFL now, but having trouble getting accounts

Seems its difficult to be a home based ffl these days a couple wholesalers I talked to said they will no longer do business with home based ffl's... Most rescently Sports South... Or some will not do business with you unless you plan to keep "X" amount of inventory or have other references

I'm looking for any suggestions or positive advice

Our city zoning does NOT allow signs to be posted and that kills a few vendors right there

I'd like to be able to do more than transfers and basic gun smithing

Thanks in advance

Yup. That's gonna happen. RSRGroup is good. Davidson's says you have to have a business, but I think they fudge. Join FFLonly.com and come grouse about it there, you'll often find "brick and mortar" FFLs who are sometimes willing to help!

Also, nothing says you have to KEEP the sign up :) Put it up, take a pic, get on with it :)

Be careful about mis-representing your business, the distributors will have their regional rep's stop by your place of business a couple of times a year. Personally I do not consider putting a sign up then taking it down to be good advice, but to each their own. There are companies that will be happy to work with home based FFL's. Send me a PM if you would like some names and I will share them with you.

Sub, we have a budding business as well. We had to get a small office space because of our HOA. Even then we have had a few distributors that would not deal with us. Have you tried Lipsey's and Hill Country. Like Cannon said, RSR is pretty good to deal with. They may be willing to set you up with an account. PM me and I can give you more info if you would like. Good Luck!

Is there any limit on the minimum size of the sign?
Many years ago when my dad got his FFL, he posted a 1/4" tall sign on the mailbox.
