Austin area get-together -- Eagle Peak Saturday 10AM --

Hey guys, interested in an Austin area meeting on the range? We can meet each other in person, discuss current events, check out firearms, practice, and maybe try out different guns (long or short).

A little about myself: I started (well, restarted) shooting 2 years ago and participates in various local competitions. My shooting needs a lot of improvement in many areas so I hit the range pretty often. Prior to 2 years ago, I first tried my hand at the shooting sports 13 years ago, then quit after 2 years (because I sucked very bad :) and have not touched a gun for nearly 10 years until I got back into it in 2005.

If there's interest, we may be able to pull off a regular on-the-range meet.

I'm game . . . I used to shoot IDPA with the local club, until a shoulder injury sidelined me for a bit. (And the matches moved way the heck out of town . . . now they shoot at a range that's halfway to Houston. ) I'd really like to get back in the game.

Any range suggestions?

I'm open to any range.

There aren't too many public ranges around Austin:

Eagle Peak,
Red's North,
Red's South,
Capitol Skeet

I think that's it.

If there are enough Austin Rifle Club members,
maybe we can try having it there.

I'm in. Sat mornings are best for me - something on the south side is good.

Same here. I need to get out and meet some fellow gun enthusiasts in the area anyway.

I would like to participate..

South is good for me as well. There is an outdoor range on hamilton pool road... Red's south is also good.

Sounds good

I was under the impression that the Hamilton Pool Rd range (Hill Country Rifle) was closed. I can very well be wrong on this, so if its open then it is definitely a meeting possibility.

** Is there any particular agenda that people like to do?
Meet, introduce, check out different carry guns?
Reloading/detailed strip/competition discussions?
Send some rounds down range?

** Is there any particular range you must go to?

I'm thinking for the first Austin meeting, we can just do some informal shooting. And make this a once a month get together or somthing like that.

Please let me know; Yahoo! weather says next Friday/Saturday is going to be good. I'm open to suggestions. You can also PM or call me privately.

Ranch work permitting, I'm interested.

I am not currently a member of the Austin Rifle Club, but have been thinking of becoming one since it's only 20 min from my house, so if we have it there, that's great for me. Otherwise anywhere south or east of Austin works for me...

This is great! sounds good. If we can figure out where to get together, I'm in.
Since y'all are around Austin, we should check out the Gun Show this weekend. Sometimes the Austin Rifle Club has a table there, I'll try to get some details if they are there.

I recently joined this club because I wanted a decent outdoor range to shoot at and to participate in their shooting matches. They have a really well kept range and stress safe shooting; in fact, you must attend a free and mandatory orientation class (held once per month) before submitting your membership application.

I got a friend in Austin who might find this interesting. I'll pass the link to this thread along to him.
