Holster recommendations?

OK, here's my problem........

I've got my eye on a commander size Springfield 1911 that I've always wanted or maybe one of the new S&W M&P compacts that just recently were released as my carry gun when my CHL arrives.

The reality of the situation however, is that I will probably have to carry one of my Springfield XD's for the time being.

I own both a service and tactical and would prefer an IWB tuckable holster that will accommodate both weapons, although the 4" will be my primary carry.

I'm open to either leather or kydex, but so far I'm leaning towards the Comp-Tac Infidel based solely on info from their web site. I've not seen or handled one in person.

Any XD shooters care to chime in with what works (or doesn't) for you?

Hey, I carry my XD 40 cal(4 inch) or my XD 9mm sub compact. I'll carry in a OWB paddle holster from Blackhawk.

Incredible retention holsters!!

I carry my XD 9SC in a Comp-Tac CTAC regularly and find it to be very comfortable. The new Infidel from Comp-Tac looks really good as well. I don't use the tuckable feature of it, so I can't speak to that. They make a great product and their responsiveness can't be beat!

The Blackhawk holsters have a good reputation, but I have a box full of paddle and belt holsters already. They will work during the one month of winter that we get in these parts, but don't conceal well unless I wear a coat...not too practical the other 11 months of the year.

I need something that is tuckable and will work with my 6'1", 225 lb frame. Although I really like the XD, it's not the most concealable gun around.

Comp-Tac products are top notch, but I think Blade-Tech has a slight edge on them. You will be happy with either. I have a C-TAC and UCH and I find the UCH conceals slightly better and is notably more comfortable.

I've been carrying my XD 45 ACP service in a Crossbreed Supertuck everyday for the last month with no problems. It's really comfortable once you get it adjusted to you're liking, and, so far, it conceals well. Be ready for a wait, though, it took seven and a half weeks for it to arrive in my mailbox. Other than the wait, it has met all my expectations. Good luck on finding a holster to fit you're situation.

I got the Tucker Heritage IWB.
Works great!

Rob was a pleasure to work with, and the "I'll take it back if you don't like it" guarantee is tough to beat.

+1 for Tucker, but I carry the "Answer". It is incredibly comfortable. If you order for the XD Tactical you'll be able to carry the sub & service as well.

Another plus 1 for Tucker!! They are all I use. If you are around the Conroe area you can go down to Shooters Station and try them on and find the one you like! They keep MANY in stock.

I carry a Comp-tac infidel and will likely be in the DFW area this weekend.......PM me and maybe we can work something out and arrange for you to handle on in person before purchasing. Take care.

I have ordered the Tucker "answer" as well and should have it in a week or two. I too will let you know what it is like. I hope it is as good as everyone says it is. I bought it because it will fit both the service (which I have) and the XD SC which I should have for summer carry by spring

I carry my Springfield Armory Gov't Model 1911 in a Tucker "The Answer" and love it. I've heard stories of retention problems, but haven't had any myself. Most of the stories I've heard seem to involve wearing a non-gunbelt or no belt. I had some difficulty with the holster initially (purely my own fault for not paying attention when I ordered it - with the worng size belt clips), but between Rob Longenecker and Tucker, I got it straightened out just fine. In fact, Tucker had me come over to his shop in Spring and personally made sure that the clips he put on fit my belt like they should!
