New LCP First Impressions.

#1

Post by texastactical »

I picked up a Ruger LCP to use as a backup and a quick grab n go pocket gun last week. I was at the range MDing an IDPA Match and had a few minutes and decided to try out the LCP.

I started at 7 yards and fired a full magazine through it. Being pleased with those results I backed up to 10 yards. Even with the miniscule sights and shooting offhand I was impressed. I then backed up to 20yards and proceeded to put 12 rounds into the head of an IDPA target unsupported. I didn't measure the group but in retrospect I think it was no bigger than 3" to 4" inches at the most. This was done with WWB.

I am very impressed with the shootability and accuracy of this little gun.

Wow... 20yards, 3 to 4 inch group...short barrel. Good shootin!!!!! :fire

I like to shoot at least one target/couple of magizines at 15 yards every range visit. My groups began to open up at about 60......years.

My brother bought one when it first came out, and he really disliked the trigger. Comment?

It's a long trigger pull and not fun for plinking, but I love my LCP for CC.

The trigger will probably be annoying if you are used to shooting striker fired guns. If you have had any experience with DA or DA/SA guns it really isn't that bad. It is a long pull, but not obnoxiously so.

I made the mistake of putting 150 rounds through it right after I got it. Ouch.
