My crystal ball reports that the Feds will expand reporting of Multi Gun Purchases in border States to include "assault" ammo and high capacity magazines (as determined by MEXICO)! :banghead:

"Officials found 50 boxes of AK-47 bullets, 20 boxes of .9-millimeter bullets, 20 boxes of .30-millimeter bullets and .38-caliber bullets."

Love one of the comments on the article "The boxes clearly said Federal Ammunition!":

There are more than a few people on here that have more ammo than that in their home, I'm sure. This sounds kind of flimsy to me. :???:

The pawn shop was repackaging the ammo so that the buyer would be able to cross it into Mexico. That's what got them in trouble. So i guess now they are just gonna go to wal -mart and clean the shelves out. Guess i need to start stocking up some more.

Or a small order from AIM Surplus. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who have that much stashed in their homes.

Why do they need to repackage it? They can cross where millions of illegals do without government control, but going in the other direction.

Not that uncommon. A few months back, a large chunk of the village of colombus Nm ( not far from EP) was busted for running large amounts of AK pistols across the border. The chief of Police was at the center of it along with the shop they were purchasing the pistols from in Canutillo (if memory serves correct). It sounds sad, but being from EP, I'm not surprised when I hear about things like this anymore.

Still folks falsely claim how "Unsafe" EP is, mainly folks who have never visited here or spent time here in the last ten years. Honestly, Its always a bigger deal when something like this happens in a border city. As we know, the media like to take stories and spin them round and round - this is a text book example. I personally believe that it really helps send the "ooooo scary border city" falsehood even higher up in the public image, for a multitude of reasons that are less than altruistic.

At any rate, I digress. I don't think the ammo prices here in town will really go up (and if they were going to go up anywhere, it'd be here ). Academy is still the cheapest place to get ammo around here, generally speaking, and they finally lifted their restriction on x amount of boxes per customer. If prices go back up and ammo gets scarce here again, it will be because stores will start caving to the folks who buy into the smelly story the media keeps trying to tell, and change their polices again. That's part of why the Academy stores in our area no longer sell any type of tactical long rifle - they were pressured into removing them from stores near the border a few years back, and we haven't seen them there since.
