Hey guys, I wanted to give y'all a quick review on this TAP FPD business. A little expensive, think I paid $23 for a box of 25. Anyway, the reason I bought it was because I recieved a gift card from Academy for 25 bucks, and have been wanting to run this stuff through my G26 and see how it performed compared to the other defensive rounds I have used. Liked it so much I went right back after the range and bought another couple of boxes of it.

I'm no expert, so I am going to just keep this review simple. Presentation is nice, the silver nickel case looks great. I have used Hornady Critical Defense before, so I was pretty confident I would like it. Sure enough it was as accurate as the critical defense was, and handled about the same. 100% reliability, definately a clean running ammunition. As far as muzzle flash, it was amazing. Almost none, and thats in my G26 short barrel. I dont have anything on penetration, but I'm assuming it will get the job done as advertized.

Like I said, I can't really give specifics on it because I'm not any sort of expert on ammunition. There are very few professional reviews so I'm probably taking a little bit of a gamble on it, but I can say for certain it is the cleanest stuff I have ran through any of my 9 mm's, and it was extremely accurate shooting stuff.

SOunds great. I'll get a couple of boxes and compare it to the other JPH rounds I have in my cache.

Thanks for the report. I saw these in Cabela's but nobody seemed to have used them. I'll give them a try in my SR9C and report back.

Welp, I went ahead and ran a couple more boxes through to make sure that the ammo fed properly. I am up to about 100 rounds of this FPD stuff through my G26 Gen4, and no feeding issues whatsoever. It does have a noticable snap compared to my regular winchester white box range stuff, but it works great and follow ups aren't a problem at all. Still the cleanest stuff I have ran through my glock. After 50 rounds today, I still saw no reason to even clean it. I field stripped to check and make sure there was no damage or anything, but no cleaning. Good stuff!!!!

5 boxes on order. I shot the XTP 147grJPH bullets the other day and I love the feel of them. They may become my primary carry load.

I saw a guy at the range that was plinking away at a box of those XTP's with his G26. The problem is there are just TOO MANY GOOD brands to decide. I'll but a box of everything :clapping:

I was at Academy a little while ago and was asking the gun guy about JHP ammo for 9mm. They had the Hornady 147 gr. TAP and the Winchester Ranger SXT 127gr +P. He told me that the local FBI guys had tested every brand they sell and that the Winchester was the best for doing the most damage with the most expansion and not exiting. I thought that the 147 gr was intriguing, but decided to come home and research further.

I finally shot some Hornady 147 TAP JHP and Speer 124+P JHP rounds. I like the feel of the Speer better than the Hornady. I watched a YouTube video on the Hornady round and I was dissapointed with the test result- the bullet didn't mushroom well. The speer was outstanding in the test.
