1911 Magazines - Where to buy?

#1

Post by Lumberjack98 »

I recently picked up a Taurus PT1911 AL and I'd like to get some more 8 round magazines. I've read a lot of good things about Wilson, Chip McCormick and Check mate magazines.

Are there other magazines that I should be considering?

Where can I purchase magazines at a fair price?

Tripp Research Cobra Mags: http://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html

They are pretty pricey at $34.95 each, but they are the best mags I've ever bought. Head and shoulders better than the others, in my opinion.

CDNN has some good prices on mags. The only 8 round.45 mags they have listed today are Metalform who is a longtime supplier to the US military. I have several Metalform mags they have been very reliable. CDNN also has Chip McCormick, MecGar, Colt and other mags. Check their website regularly because their inventory changes weekly.

I have to agree about Cobra Mags they are the pinnacle of 1911 magazine excellence. :woohoo The Cobra mag upgrade kits makes any magazine super reliable. :thumbs2:

I see you're in West Houston...

AMSS in the Jones & 1960 area (more Northwest Houston, but anyway...) carries both McCormick Power Mags and Wilson Combat (several varieties) in stock if you're wanting to put your hands on them. I believe they also have the MecGar mags in stock...all brands that seem to work well in most 1911 pistols.

Arms Room in League City has Wilson, Chip Mccormick, and Cobra. I have a Wilson and a Cobra for my Officer. They both work fine now but the Wilson didn't work at first. It had a weak spring when I bought it but they sent me a new one and it works fine now. The Cobra is flawless and it's made in Texas.
