Being new to the area, I am not really familiar with the Gun Shops around.

Where to you guys frequent when ready for a new purchase.

Arlington, Mid-Cities, Ft Worth area.

Thanks

Bass Pro in Grapevine has at least one very knowledgeable individual at the gun counter (when he's there)...ask for Larry.

I'm sure there are many others, but being from Houston, I can only vouch for the "gun store guy" I know personally...

I mostly purchase off this forum, very seldom at the gun stores. The best prices are at Academy Sports or Cheaper Than Dirt.

thanks,
George

Aside from the Academy at various locations, here's a list of gun shops and ranges. I'm not personally endorsing any one of these by including them here.

Fort Worth:
Alpine Shooting Range
Cabelas
Elk Castle
On Target
Shoot Smart
Shooter's Club
WInchester Gallery

Mid Cities:
Bass Pro Shop
Euless Guns and Ammo

Mansfield:
Iron Mine

Granbury:
Murle's Gun Shop

OK, I just threw that last one in for a laugh. See the link.

In addition to the above list we have at least three or four good gun shows in the area on a regular basis. You can find some good deals there if you look (and haggle) hard enough. The biggest show is usually the "Dallas Arms Collectors" followed by the "Original Fort Worth Gun Show". Check here for a schedule:

Welcome to DFW! Hope that helps.

I was trying to order some ammo from Euless gun and ammo, they were helpful in trying to help me but they couldn't seem to find what I wanted. I was looking for the 9mm +p Gold Dot's 124 gr in the 50 rd duty ammo packaging. They said that couldn't get it and that it only came in 20 round boxes. So I just went online and bought it from Kyle's gunshop online, basically the same price as the 20 round box.

Acadmey, they have no clue there and I dont' even bother with it anymore. Cheaper then dirt is ok for alot of things, but the last time I was in there it cost them the sale of a shotgun due to them being rude to me and acting like they had better things to do.

Thanks for listing us on your forum! Shoot Smart will be opening in late February or early March. Our lanes are under construction. We'll have 11 lanes. A 10 lane pistol bay (8 50' lanes and 2 25 yard) with Action Target retrievers and a Private lane (50') where you can draw from a holster, rapid fire, and practice target acquisition with our Action Target Turning Target System. All lanes will have keypad dial in distance controls.

You can visit us at the range, online at ShootSmartTX.com, or visit our booth at The Original Fort Worth Gun Show January 1st and 2nd, 2011.
