...in silencer sales.
Nationwide, more than 22,000 of these noise suppressors were sold this year -- 9 percent more than last year -- and the most were sold in Texas for at least the third year in a row, according to statistics released by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

I'm curious about these things....

Looking at the picture in your linked article (below), am I wrong, or does the can get in the way of your sights on a pistol?

I've shot a friends silenced AR before, and that was kind of cool, but I don't know if it's worth the hassle to get one of my own...

Do you have to get a new barrel in order to get it attached?
My Glock barrels don't have any threads to screw anything on.

I could see the benefits to one of these for home defense. The thought of me and my family having to hear my .357 SIG in the house in the event of needing to use it...

Up North they didn't hear about the Tax Credit incentive to reduce noise pollution?

heh, looks like the CTD store here in Fort worth that I frequent alot.

Cans are cool. Wouldn't want the extra paper work for one though.

I wish we could buy suppressors with just a 4473, but Americans have been so indoctrinated by Hollywood with "Silencers are for committing murder" that it won't happen. Doesn't mean I won't get a few once I'm out of school and move somewhere that's more NFA-friendly than Harris County.

I was too. I even went so far as to chat with a local Class III manufacturer about putting one on an 1895 Nagant revolver (mainly because, due to the gas seal, it's the only revolver that can effectively be suppressed, akaik). Turned out the tax stamp would be the cheapest part of the exercise, by a long chalk and I quickly became less curious.

Apparently they're a lot cheaper in New Zealand, though. http://onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com/20 ... untry.html

Why would you care about how NFA-friendly Harris County is? Create a Trust and let it buy the can.

I think a different longer barrel with the threads on the end is needed.

edit: Did a quick search and found this site. This is the page for my G22.

http://www.silencerco.com/Silencerco/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has a unique design which helps avoid obstructing the sights, and yields very good performance as well. I've actually started to look in to splurging on one for the nightstand pistol (which is also my EDC). I really cringe at the thought of what shooting indoors would do to the hearing I have left :nono:

I got a quote for an FFL/Attorney for $350 to draw up the trust paperwork & deal w. the ATF.

You mean I can't put that can on the end of my SW 442.
Might need a bipod just to hold up the suppressor.

http://www.guntrustlawyer.com is an option to get a trust get set up. It is a bit more expensive (around $600) but a buddy of mine used them. The trust is set up to be a bit more specific when dealing with class III items. Plus you can get others set up as trustees so that they can have access to the items as well.
