I haven't noticed anyone here mentioning that Lt. Col Jeff Cooper
is in extremely bad health & we could lose him at anytime.

Interesting note also that former Texas governor Ann Richards has
passed away; she will be somewhat remembered for her
opposition to the Texas CCW law.
Again, please remember Col. Cooper & his family in your

I know Jeff has got to be pushing 80. I think. If anything has been said in G&A I have missed it. He may be the next icon to slip away. THere will never be another. Welcome to the forum rosco.

I'm sorry about Lt. Col Jeff Cooper's health problems and send my heartfelt prayers to him and his family. I had the pleasure of being at Gunsite back in '84 and he taught most all the class room stuff and was on the range almost all the time. He is a great teacher and a great host. After the class was over on Saturday, he had everyone into his home and he and Janelle were most gracious host.
I learned more in a week at gunsite than I could have learned in a lifetime alone.
Whether it happens now of later,Lt. Col Jeff Cooper will be missed in the shooting world. I and all 1911 pistol shooters owe him a hugh thanks for bring the 1911 platform to the fore front of defensive pistol craft.
I can still to this day hear him yell from behind me "Son, you will die with the hammer down on that weapon." This happened on the 1st day of class, we were going to the range and I had the weapon holstered with no mag, and no round chambered. He then proceeded to explain that the 1911 was meant to be carried cocked and locked. From that time forward, no one has ever caught me in any condition other than that.
