My AR 15

I am having a hard time sighting in my AR. My rear sight is half way past center to the left. :banghead: I do not consider myself to be a beginner shooter but, this darn thing is making me look like a novice for sure.

I am seriously considering getting a carry handle scope mount so I can put a scope on it. Does anyone have a suggestion on what type of scope. I will be mostly shooting hogs or punching paper. So I guess my question would be 'tactical or varmint'.

Also, What do the marks signify inside a mil dot reticle and a sniper reticle?

Check and make sure that your barrel is on tight. Grab your upper receiver with one hand, and grab your A frame or gas block in the other, then give it a good twist. If it moves at all then your barrel is loose and it can cause a ton of issues. Also, sometimes the front sight can be bent, or even the barrel itself. And I dont want to link to another forum...but theres a post on 10-8forums.com that has GREAT info on mil-dot scopes, I will see if I can find it and post a link.

There you go, its a great informative read, a little long but it will explain the mil-dot system for you.

Make sure the front sight is straight. My AR got knocked down from leaning against a book case. Gotta love cats...the front sight was almost 1/2" off to one side after that. I personally bought a cheap 4X Colt style scope to mount to my carry handle. It mounts good, looks good, and my gun is in the shop getting other problems fixed so I couldn't say how it shoots.
