I don't understand why we can't just have a Texas Citizen's ID Card that contains all of the information about us, including licensure for driving and concealed carry of handguns. It sure would make all of this stuff more simple in my opinion.

I prefer to keep the information on seperate cards. I don't want everyone who sees my driver's license (banks, employers, merchants, bartenders, etc.) to know I have a CHL. There's a reason that the law was changed to allow only law enforcement to access CHL status.

I can understand the security enhancement part, but why did they have to make it so ugly? It's like they gave the design job to the tourism folks and told them to make it "light and happy" looking.

I like the category.

"Ah, yes, I have a CHL cause I'm part of No Such Agency."

Well, I got mine today, it was approved on Monday, and as far as I can tell this is Sept 2008, but mine is the old style card.

Sigh. I now dread my renewal...
