I was watching the movie hitman and there is a part where 47 grabs a very nice 1911 (not his personal ones)
and racks the slide to chamber a round .
the way that gun sounded when racked was unlike any i have heard
it was very smooth and there was no clunk or thud
does anyone know what im talking about and can tell me the types of guns like that perhaps why they are that way
is it the finish or the tolerance??? or something else
i would realty like to know
it may seem stupid but i want a gun that sounds like that when the action is worked
the sound a slide makes

I have no idea...but I'll be needing to watch the movie again now just for research purposes. Of course I'll also have to check out Olga Kurylenko in detail again! You know, I didn't expect a lot going into Hitman, but it turned out to be better than a lot of other movies this year! I actually really liked it, I'll pick it up when it hits the good sales at blockbuster.

Its a movie!
99% of the time they don't reload, they rack the slides 15 times every scene (like the pyramid scene in Stargate..uggh)
I have seen a handfull of movies where the guys actually shoot em dry and do a reload on screen (Die Hard 4) but then the scene where he shoots thru his shoulder to kill the badguy made my head hurt!
I admit they are getting much better firearm firing audio clips, but you and I both know that most of Hollywood is for the flash
How big an explosion do you think a hand grenade makes...about a 3 foot poof of black and TONS of shrapnel...not the blow the windows out and collapse the building kind of explosion, and they always seem to have a fuse long enough for the hero to jump up from laying down, strap himself into an ejection seat, then launch to safety as the ENTIRE plane explodes into a HUGE fireball!

It was the Foley Artist brand of pistol: http://www.marblehead.net/foley/
I imagine the custom sounding gun was part of artistic license... similar to the James Bond novels with his Walther PPK in a holster for a revolver.
For reference the standard weapons for 47 include:
A pair of heavily-customized Stainless steel AMT Hardballers, dubbed Silverballers.
A customizable Walther WA2000 sniper rifle
A customizable SMG (based on an H&K MP5)
A customizable SPAS-12 automatic shotgun
A customizable M4 Carbine assault rifle
A non-metallic fiber wire garrote
Remote Undetectable-Anti Personnel (RU-AP) mines
A poison syringe
A sedative syringe

Re: the sound a slide makes
Off screen on the street, there is some real stopping power in the sound of a pistol slide being racked.
Back on the big screen, in this case the boob tube and the HBO series "The Wire", all the thugs pocket carry their semi autos sans holster and less one in the tube and rack the slide to arm their weapon. Good thing they're actors on TV and don't have a part in this show playing out just down the big road from Balmer:

To recap the above link: The police are under no obligation to protect individual members of the public, but feel obligated to pay for their funerals. What's next, pink Cadillacs for patrol cars?
