Best reasons or excuses to buy a gun

#1

Post by dukesean »

I thought it would be kinda funny to have a thread on the best reasons or excuses we have used in the past to justify buying or owning a gun, either to your friends, family, significant other, or even to yourself

The only rule is: These must be actual reasons/excuses you have used on people. Let's not get too serious with this - these are purely for comedy sake. :cheers2:

I'll get us started.

To justify to my roommate my first gun purchase, a Sig P226:
"To make sure you pay me your rent on time"

My response to explain to a girl friend when she asked why I needed so many guns:
"How many purses do you need?"

To justify to myself buying a second gun instead of just one as originally planned during a visit to Sporting Arms in Lewisville:
"Dude, it's reverse two tone"

Man, I miss that store. I bought both my AR and my H&K from them. I also bought my son's Savage 10FP-HS Precision in .308 there. They had great prices on firearms. I don't think I was subtle enough to offer any excuses, except "I wanted it."

I have used something similar....."It's NOT the same gun, it's a variation!" :thumbs2:

Now, I'm trying to come up with an excuse to get the new Ruger LCP. (any suggestions?)

You don't want it to fall into the hands of a criminal do you?

Ok, real excuses I've used.....

"Can't use my carry pistol for night stand duty. I need night sights on the night stand gun."

"I could buy a new gun that's easier to conceal for less than the cost of more holsters"

"We're making more on appreciation for the guns than we are for our savings account!" (need to try this on ammo now"

"You need a gun you can shoot!"
"Limit politicians to two terms. One in office and one in jail!" (Borrowed from an anonymous donor)

I'm going to sell my other one. Really.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

"I've been thinking about reloading for (insert caliber) for awhile."
Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

DH, just tonight, proudly brought home a Rossi youth model combo .410 shotgun, 17HMR rifle.

He bought it for our grandson's birthday next week.

Grandson is gonna be........ 1 year old next Saturday!

Why? Because it was on sale, of course!

"It's for the children."
"Your dad really likes his."
"I don't have one like this."
I'm searching for a J frame right now, "Because it's hard to conceal my 1911 under my motorcycle jacket."
(Anybody with a reasonably priced model 49, 38 or pre-lock 638 for sale feel free to pm me.)
I think a new pistol for Dear Sweet Wife is after that so, "She can carry it and I can put my truck gun back in the truck."
And then, "So we can keep one in your car without having to move the other one back and forth when we go somewhere in it."

Enjoy!

ok....

When given an economic stimulus check and told by my lovely bride that it is going towards visa debt and not a sweet Les Baer; my reply :
Oh, c'mon! Do you realize stimulus checks are just a prelude to anarchy?! We have dems who are willing to hand our country over on a silver platter and I'm not ready to start learning arabic! Heck...It was hard enough learning espanol in Ms. Jones' class.....iEscuchame! --- I was admittedly on a rant with poor command of any language...native or not; for that sweet 1911...never got it. dang it.

When all else fails and I'm caught red handed, rat out the board:
Man, I'm not half as 'bad' as these guys on texaschlforum.com! :biggrinjester:

My wife's dad was on the army shooting team.....a long time ago.....and he gave me a nice amount of ammo for a Garrand.
My wife does alot of garage sales and found a deal on some factory ammo (9mm and .45) the guy threw in a fair amount of ammo for an AK for free.

Guess what, I didn't have either.......but now I do!!!!!

The excuse? You and your family got me the ammo, now I need something that I can use the ammo in.......... :anamatedbanana

It worked!!!!! :woohoo

I haven't had to make an excuse, I've always been a fan of "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission."

She remembered which ones and took every stinking one of them with her!

I'm single...I don't have to ask permission. :tiphat: Just one of the many benefits in getting a divorce.
