A bill to ban a wide variety of semi-automatic firearms, especially those where a huge variety of after-market customization options, is named "H.R. 1022"?

That might be the most ironically named law since PC 30.06!

With no action other than being referred to the subcommittee in March, and the 59 co-sponsors being limited to the usual suspects, and especially with the anti-gunners being kept in check because of the pending '08 election season, I'd say this is pretty much DOA.

Even the title of the Bill "Assault Weapons Ban" is incorrect.
Assault Weapons (which are select fire - Full Auto) are already semi-banned (heavily controlled) and unavailable to citizens without a lot of paperwork, Tax Stamp and 15,000-35,000 for the gun!

If they are going to introduce a bill, why can't they get the terminology correct?

In any case, it still only serves to eliminate purchases of LEGAL weapons by Law Abiding Citizens! Criminals do not care anything about "Bills" and what is passed and what is not. They of course will always get what they want when they want it.

It is only a Dem "Feel Good" measure that restricts gun ownership by Law Abiding Citizens!
