Re: ammo on sale
You would probably be surprised. I bought the last box of .45ACP at a range last month and it was a box of Academy Monarch -charged $27.99 for a box of 50. There's a new Academy right up the street from them..45mac.40 wrote: ... HEY ... Re: ammo on sale
I would not let it get to me. The local gun shops are all doing this in my area. Tonight at wally world the clerk told me that every morning he is visited by guys who work at a local gun shop. They buy all they can if any is in stock. He said they will get on the phone and call for reinforcements to pick up any left after they hit the limits. It kind of ticks me off and I think I know which gun shop he is talking about but can't prove it so I will keep it to myself. If it is the shop I suspect, they are doubling the price and selling the stuff like there is no tomorrow. Morons that are buying the over priced ammo are what allows this madness to persist. You can't blame the guy selling it when a retard is willing to pay double.

Re: ammo on sale
The guy behind the counter at one gun store in Ft.Worth TOLD me that's exactly what they do! They hit Academy in So.Arlington, and buy up all the ammo they can, then turn around and sell it for $4-$5/box more than they paid for it. They buy Remington ammo for $12.95 at Academy, then put stickers on it for $17.95 or more depending on their mood.

Re: ammo on sale
Yep...it is the American way. Folks need to stop buying it at the ridiculous prices and the problem will correct itself. Until then...the prices will stay high. I am half afraid Wally World is going to catch on at some point and raise price too.joe817 wrote:The guy behind the counter at one gun store in Ft.Worth TOLD me that's exactly what they do! Thanks for your 7/20/09 post. Early this morning, 7/21, I went to the FM1171/Main St.
Lewisville Wally World and scooped up the remaining 3 boxes of Federal 9mm, FMJ, $8.97 a box.
The clerk had to go to a locked cabinet behind the desk. It did not have a window in it. He said
that once the remodelling is completed, the pistol ammo will return to a glass-shelved area on the
floor where we customers can look for what we need directly.
I check the Hickory Creek Wally World all the time. That store NEVER seems to have any 9mm
pistol ammo in stock. They might have 1 box of .25 or .32 mouse gun ammo.
One time I went to The Colony's Wally World and they had 14 boxes of 9mm. I bought the
max of 6.

Re: ammo on sale
South Houston report.
Academy in Pearland has most everything except .380, usual pricing.
Bass Pro in Pearland has 9mm Golden Sabers for $29, regular and +P, some 40, some 32 and 25, no 45 and no .380.
Academy at I45 and Edgebrook, same as the one in Pearland, but they have Monarch softpoint 30.06 for $15, no limit.

03Lightningrocks ... Ditto, I agree.
One of tha' two reasons, why I don't buy Wolf (etc.) ammo any more.
!. Currently, OVER PRICED !
2. Bredan (sp ?) primers.
((Ben Murray ( http://www.murraysguns.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) had to clean up my SKS bolt and FP, due to cheap, Military (Russian) ammo.))
i think we're all to blame alittle bit. Heck... without Ammo .... our Arms are only Paper Weights !!!

Re: ammo on sale
I refuse to pay 12 dollars a box for 9mm wolf or 25 dollars a box for 9mm wwb 50 count. These guys can pound wood for all I care. I would rather use mine as a club than let some smiling charlie gouge me while he acts like he is doing me some kind of favor. In the end, I only "need" enough to fill two magazines with hollow points. Punching holes in paper is fun, but I am real sure I can shoot an assailant at close range quite efficiently and don't truly "need" to practice..45mac.40 wrote:.........snip

Re: ammo on sale
I understand, I look at it differently though. Shooting makes me happy. The amount of entertainment a box of ammo gives me, makes it a bargain if it was twice the price.03Lightningrocks wrote:

Re: ammo on sale
I do the wally walk 3 or 4 times a week just to chack for ammo, it seems to be showing up more often as I was able to grab 12 boxes of 9mm in the past week. It is hit or miss but at least it is starting to show up again
