Thanks HV!HighVelocity wrote:That's some knife ya got there Rambo.

Actually the correct movie reference (at least the most notable one IMO) would be Commando. (Schwarzenegger breaks a glass case and steals it from a sporting goods store, and later uses it during a knife fight )
The knife is a Gerber BMF for those who are not familiar. I have been kicking myself for years because when I was in the military I could have bought one dirt cheap at the AAFES unifrom store on base. Several years back Gerber stopped making them and they are pretty hard to find and cost about 2.5 times the original MSRP. That one is like brand new, never used or sharpened. I took that pic to send to a like minded friend and couldn't resist posting it.

The finish is called KimProII and is a self lubricating proprietary finish offered by Kimber. The picture is a little dark because I didn't want the flash to reflect off of the magazine. The gun on the mag cover is close to the same pistol... a Kimber Warrior. It's modeled after the specially made pistols that the USMC commissioned Kimber to make for the now disbanded DET-1 SOCOM unit. The real deals are much cooler but forged of unobtanium for the most part. The were only like 147 made and I have read that they have sold for as much as $5000.RubenZ wrote:Scuba,
What coating is that on your 1911.

Picked up this beauty today at the funshow. NIB unfired Kimber TLE II (internal extractor). I raced home, took it apart, cleaned lubed, adjusted the trigger overtravel, reassembled. Then I installed stainless torx head grip screws and Hogue checkered diamondwood grips. I also replaced the full length metal guide rod with the standard GI guide/plug setup.
30 minutes later I was at the range blazing away. The target on the left is 40 rounds of Blazer Brass 230gr factory ammo at 20 yards. The target on the right is 40 rounds of mixed Blazer Brass, alluminum and Remington UMC at 10 yards. First 80 rounds and no malfunctions. Hopefully, she will continue on the path of good and be carry worthy after 1k rounds or so.
