Howdy all!

Coming up on my first renewal this summer. Carry a G23. Did just shy of 10 years with the Army, mostly as a Combat Engineer. The last two were as SP on Lackland. (Army help the Air Force? Will wonders never cease?) Went back to school last year. Married w/ 3 kids. I also teach motorcycle safety. I too discovered this forum recently through my association with Two Wheeled Texans. I have also hung around Glock Talk for a couple of years.

Welcome P-Ratt. Hope you enjoy the site. Lots of great info to be found here without the hassels of the other forums thanks to the 10 year old rule.

Welcome P-Ratt, thanks for "signing up!" (Yes, the pun was intended this time.) I took a look at the Two-Wheeled Texan site and it looks like a nice group of folks. The site administrator seems to have a philosophy about how the site should be run that is much like ours here. I like his signature, I may copy it into our mission statement.

I'll add my thanks for your service. My niece's new husband is in Iraq with the 4th ID and I'll sure be glad when he's back to Texas. She’s a bit nervous now - I can tell from her telephone calls. (I think 4th ID moving to Colorado though.)

Regards,
Chas.

Ok, what's 10 year old rule?

Lackland was a whole different world of military experience. The AF is very different from the Army, but it was fun working joint service. While I was there I had the opportunity to work with Navy and Marines too.

I have heard the "4ID going to Colorado" rumor as well, but they have been saying that since I was in it in 96-98. I do know that part of the division was there to begin with.

I got out last October. I had considered going Inactive National Guard but couldn't get things sorted out. Glad I didn't. They activated my unit for the hurricanes last year and spent the first 3 months of '06 out fighting the wildfires in north Texas. That would have put me back a whole lot with finishing my education.

For those who don't feel like surfing to find the signature mentioned, here it is. I appreciate the fact that personal attacks and profanity aren't tolerated on TWT, though I understand not everyone likes it.
The number one rule for this forum!

Think before you post. Leave out the vulgarity and foul language!

CHL is still "in process" down at Austin
My State Rep, IIRC, is Chente Quintanilla. Can't say I'm terribly happy with that state of affairs, but he was duly elected by the -other- voters in this district, so...
Carry guns will be a Springfield Champion .45 (Commander-sized 1911), and a Taurus 85 .38 for backup/deep concealment.

P-Ratt:
The “Ten Year Old Daughter Rule is a phrase that was coined by the group in reference to the no profanity rule. It comes from this sentence in the Mission Statement:

Also, this is a "G" rated forum; please don't use any language (or substitutes like @#%$&) that you wouldn't want to use in front of your 10 year old daughter.

Regards,
Chas.

Age - 34

Gender - Male

Profession/school status - BSCJ in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston St. Univ. I'm now a pump parts inside sales/customer service guy. http://www.flowserve.com/eim/Products/Pumps

Marital status - Married since 2000, with 14-year-old stepson

Years CHL - 3

Texas State Representative House District - 132 Bill Callegari

Carry guns/equipment - Most often carry a Glock 19 in Galco Royal Guard (not my favorite, but it's ok). When that's not possible, (and even when it is) I carry a Keltec P32 in my pocket in a DeSantis pocket holster. I also carry a CRKT M16-13LE just about everywhere. In addition, I have a S&W 6450 (yes, a 6450 - one of 178) that's got a Novak trigger job that I carried through the police academy and in my brief tenure as a police officer. Bought it new in 1991. Recently acquired a Colt Combat Commander in .38 Super circa 1978 from a co-worker.

I made my first post in LEO encounters. I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. I feel one of my bigger accomplishments is marrying a gun-neutral (no anti-gun feelings, just no gun feelings at ALL) woman from Illinois, and turning her into a CHL-holding pistol-packer.

Welcome Brandon and congratulations on the conversion - good work. I know you got a welcoming PM from me, but that's the "official" one.
