.38 hornady critical defence 132?gr (glove compartment)
9mm hornady critical defense 115gr (night stand/carry)
.45 Winchester ranger 230gr +p (carry)
5.56 federal xm193 ball (ar15 zombie gun)
12g Remington 3" magnum 00buck (home defense)

I load a 152gr hornady A-max round for my M1 garand and keep 12 clips loaded. I would certainly trust my M1 if it came to that.

I carry RBCD Total Fragmenting Soft Point rounds and love them!

Thanks,

D
Why do you love them? Do they shoot more accurately from your weapon than other types/brands? Have you read independent ballistics studies that prove they're more safe and/or effective? Have you done your own ballistics tests with your weapon and this ammo?

Just curious (not meaning to nitpick or call you out) - but wondering what made you choose these as they don't fit within the "normal" recommendations for name-brand SD ammo. Do you work for RBDC in San Antonio?

Great question and I was wondering why more of you don't carry it. It is not your standard Hollow Point or FMJ!

Ballistics are fast and hard hitting for the TFT rounds. (Ment to do the most damage within 3-12 ft. most rounds will not even go threw 2 sheets of sheet rock, yet will penetrate a car door and not the human body) To me this means a lot more damage to BG and a lot less potential damage to bystanders...

IN NO WAY WAS THIS SCIENTIFIC !! But, myself and a friend took a couple dozen boxes of these rounds out to the ranch and bought a couple different large cuts of pork and beef to shoot at. We shoot cinder blocks, old car doors, folded up stacks of blue jeans, water jugs, watermelons... just about anything you could shoot at...... RBCD appeared to preform a lot better than FMJ, AGAIN NOTHING SCIENTIFIC, but did not penetrate the pork rounds.

The most impressive round was the .223 Predator Hollow Point round.....

Just my opinion and why I asked the rest of you what you carried.

I generally carry a mixed load. In 9mm, 2 RBCD on top and then Corbon DPX 115. In 45, 2 RBCD on top and then Corbon DPX 185 or Hydroshok 230.

I have shot the RBCD and DPX in pork roast. The RBCD only penetrates about 7 inches but make a huge hole - 5 inches in diameter with the 9 mm. The DPX makes about half inch hole but will penetrate 17 inches or better.

I figure if the first two shots with the big diameter holes ought to discourage most - 90 %? - BGs with less chance of killing them. If theydon't discourage a BG, it is time for more penetration. Most think differently, but that's my theory.

I'm not speedsix but maybe I can shed some light on this. Remington, Winchester, and Federal all load the 158 gr SWCHP there is very little difference between one loading and the next. Buffalo Bore also loads a 158gr SWCHP that is gas checked and a harder alloy than the "Big 3" use. I am not sure the BB is loaded to SAAMI specifications or not. Several folks I trust carry the BB in J frame guns and report no problems.

I have loaded 158 gr SWCHP bullets from both Speer and Hornidy to +P velocities and it's a hand full in a light weight snub nose but, until my hand starts hurting from the recoil, I can shoot very tight groups with it.

I would prefer one of the "Big 3's loads but wouldn't shy away from Buffalo Bore. :tiphat:

For my Commander sized 1911: 230 gr +P Winchester Ranger SXT
In my Glock 19: 127 gr +P Winchester Ranger SXT

I decided to standardize on this ammo after seeing its effectiveness back in my LEO days. Even feeds well in my Officer's Model 1911.

...any .38...have used it in 649 Bodyguard 1 7/8", GP100 3"...3" and 4" .38S...it's plenty potent and proven...I don't shoot .357 in any gun...Rem has the softer lead of the different brands...about $30 per 50...Georgia Arms has them in bulk...good price...
...as to being too hot? my son was shooting 130gr. FMJ practice ammo at the range...I loaded his 3" J with the +P without telling him...he never knew the difference nor did he miss any with it...in a steel J it's comfortable to shoot...we use Pachmayr Compac grips on all our Js...any steel J can shoot the +P...I wouldn't practice with it continually...the more modern stainless revolvers can stand more +P than the old steel ones...it's not too hot nor punishing to shoot in any but the airweight/Ti guns...and if I had to carry one of those featherweights, I'd use them anyways...glad I don't...

I have supreme confidence in RBCD, you can't get any better bang for your buck....high velocity, stopping power, light weight total fragmenting soft point, that won't over penetrate a soft tissue target. It may be a little more expensive but how much is your life worth? Look at the Ballistic chart and show me another bullet that can do what this does.

Winchester Supreme Elite PDX1 in both my .40 and my 9mm.

Have not heard of them clogging in fact I heard they did pretty well on gel tests.
I realize gel is not clothing.

Seems some folks don't think this RBCD stuff is all it's reported to be.

Yep, some people think it is a fraud; some people don't like it; and some people thing its great.

Like all frangible rounds it produces relatively shallow very wide wounds. In my testing it had a wider diameterthough than magsafe or Glaser.

I enjoyed rereading the defensive carry thread since I was one of the contributors to it.

RBCD isn't for everyone. But I have tested it for myself and whatever it is made of it made big holes in the meat I shot. Were my tests scientic? Nope. But they convinced me that RBCD has a place in my load outs.

So if interested, go out and shoot some meat. See what it does for yourself.

I've carried 180gr Speer Gold Dots, 180gr Remington Golden Sabers, and 165gr Hornady Critical Defenses. I've quickly fallen in love with 165gr Winchester PDX1's though. This is for .40 s&w
