Got one bought it as a bedroom gun. It resides in my headboard at night and in the safe during the day. The Judges purpose is to supply the shock and awe factor allowing the wife to barricade in our closet and me to get the Mossy ready for it's work.

At 3 to 10 yards I am as accurate with the Judge as any handgun I own, I doubt anyone hit center of mass with 45lc is going to continue the fight, would I want to take my shots with it from 25-30 yds or out no that's what the .40 or 357 is for.

Yes, at least they did initially. And made some of us rather angry with their photos of the birdshot patterns on human shaped targets. Informed "gun people" know that bird shot is for birds.

But there are a large number of uninformed people out there who bought the Judge based upon those ads and to this day do not know that their #6 birdshot, even at pretty close range, can just make a very nasty surface wound - and their assailants very, very angry.

To their credit, Federal, however has developled some specific buckshot loads that pattern very well out of The Judges, at least at typical self defense distance. Our testing indicates typically all four pellets in less than 4" at 7 yards.

Isn't there enough real concerns about the Judge to resort to straw men attacks? Nobody has mentioned anything about the .460 magnum. The same "it fits so its ok" argument can be made for a wide variety of firearms.

The Judge and Governator are probably a lot stronger than a vintage Colt Peacemaker.

I saw a newbie shooter at the range who had a Judge and had a tough time with it. It has a niche but it's not the best gun for learning to shoot.
When in doubt

I'm not saying the Judge is a "man stopper" in a defensive situation but birdshot to the face could possibly blind an assailant and stop the assault without killing them. Not saying I would ever use it like that, but it is a possibility.
