Very nicely. It's well balanced, fits very nicely in my hand, and recoil is minimal, even with +P loads. Sight picture reset is nice and quick, and the white dots on the sights make this this an easy gun to do accurate rapid fire. I've got no complaints at all.hi-power wrote:Very nice HP, NcongruNt!
I see it came with a commander hammer. That should keep it from biting you. How does it shoot?

Terrifying knife. Rambo would grumble, "This brings me luck."
Wear the BlueTooth earphone always, because a bad guy will never know when you're online...and in a grocery store it will sufficiently annoy civilians.
Awesome Kool-Aid singles...but the grape flavor will stain your lips. Can't look all Clint Eastwood-like with purple lips.
The Hubba Bubba in a front pocket can help prevent printing of your BUG: good thinking.
Oh. Nice gun and proper magazines.

The Koolaide and gum are for my patients.....and sometimes me. They will complain that they are tired of the hospital food or the water sucks (thanks Lubbock). So I bribe them with candy/chocolate to finish their food and spice up their water with Koolaide.
Grape flavor is the best. I won't lie.....I have a stockpile of the Koolaide grape 6-packs in my office fridge. You know...the ones with the plastic twist off tops.
I guess thats why my co-workers call me Doogie Howser - and the fact that I am only 22 doesn't help.

Mars is considering a .45, but he's wondering how easily he can hide it.
Would anyone here be willing to post pics of your concealed glock/XD or 1911?

Springer 1911-A1 full size.
Covered w/ a Polo shirt that was hanging on the door knob.
Ruger GP100 w/ 4"barrel Much bigger than the 1911.
I have made a vest out of the Dennim shirt by squaring off the tail & taking out the sleeves. Much neater than pictured when ironed.

Love the GP100
I carried a Ruger GP100 on duty for about a year after they first came out, before my department finally let us start carrying something besides wheel guns (Yes it was sometime after 1987 before Greenville PD admitted that semi-autos were okay for police officers!). I hated it at first but yanked that trigger assembly out and took it to a gunsmith for polishing and it was sweeeeet after that. The other guys gave me a hard time about toting a Ruger but I earned their respect on the firing range at every qualification. Wish I'd kept that gun, but when I switched to the 92F I had to sell the GP100 in order to pay for the Beretta.longtooth wrote:Ruger GP100 w/ 4"barrel Much bigger than the 1911.
It's well engineered. Not a leaf spring anywhere in it.

The 1911 is actually incredibly concealable. I've found I prefer carrying either a Commander or Officer most of the time, IWB and tucked (using a belly-band holster, with the gun positioned just behind the point of my hip). Unless my overshirt is too small for me, the pistol seems to disappear. And I'm not a large person either - 5'6" and ~135 lbs.Venus Pax wrote:Mars is considering a .45, but he's wondering how easily he can hide it.

Re: Love the GP100
Similar experience too. Early 80's & working as Chaplain to SO & had the only Ruger on the line. Smith or Colt was it. Mine was a Security 6. They called it a Preacher gun. I like it & that is what matters. I plan to have a trigger job on it too but that is about a yr down the line right now.tfrazier wrote:I carried a Ruger GP100 on duty for about a year after they first came out, before my department finally let us start carrying something besides wheel guns (Yes it was sometime after 1987 before Greenville PD admitted that semi-autos were okay for police officers!).longtooth wrote:Ruger GP100 w/ 4"barrel Much bigger than the 1911.

See my post on page 12; Sun May 06 at 6:41. That is a 3" Kimber Tactical Ultra II. I also carry a full size (5") Kimber at times, but mostly it's the compact.Venus Pax wrote:Mars is considering a .45, but he's wondering how easily he can hide it.

I carry a Hi-Power in a Galco Combat Carry OWB. The Hi-power (4.6" barrel) is about the same size as a 5" 1911, but with a double-stack mag making the grip bulkier, and consequently a little more difficult to conceal than a 1911. I wear an unbuttoned work shirt over it, but sometimes close the bottom button to prevent the wind from exposing my gun. Here's the pics:Venus Pax wrote:Mars is considering a .45, but he's wondering how easily he can hide it.

What's underneath:
Conceal garment with one button fastened:
Conceal garment unbuttoned (my normal carry state):
Hope these are helpful.
