I know a lot of people will disagree with me (maybe not here, but in general), but I don't think he was wrong at all to shoot when they were at his door with guns. Whether he thought all they wanted to take were his things or not, they initiated the scenario and, therefore, chose what reactions came with it. (Also, if someone is at my door pointing guns at me, I'm going to assume that they don't care about my safety since they aren't practicing safe handling.)
Charles, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it legal to shoot someone that is actively taking your things from your home, even if the person isn't armed?
