Re: ammo on sale
Well it seems to be plentiful enough for you to be able to go out and shoot, and replenish what you use, and maybe add to it. We're seeing it pop up all over the State, and I think it's a sign that it's only going to get better.
NEXT comes prices coming down.....I hope.

Has anyone noticed that walmart has not had any 45acp lately. It seems like it was gone, then came back for a while, and now I never see it. The last time I got the WWB 100rd value pack from walmart was in Marble Falls about 3 months ago and it was marked up to $34.97. Just curious

Re: ammo on sale
Spanky, 2 weeks ago I spotted a lot of .45 ammo at Wal-Mart in east Ft.Worth:
.45acp - Federal 230 gr; 28 50 count boxes: $15.97
.45acp - Winchester PdX1 JHP, S.D. ammo; 17 boxes: $20.97(20 round box??)
Also, Academy in north F.W. had a lot as well. I think the shortage is regional and infrequent. JMO

It's also available in Austin at the Academy on Brodie, both FMJ and JHP. Between myself and the guy after me, they are down 10 boxes.GlockontheRocks wrote:.380 Ammo at Academy in McAllen. $ 14.95 a box. Scored 10 boxes.
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.
Re: ammo on sale
nice to finally see the elusive 380 popping up.....but still have not seen the 100rd WWB value pack in a long long long time.
Re: ammo on sale
I forgot to mention....has anyone noticed that the monarch JHP round seems to be a very crude hollow point design. It looks like the took an FMJ bullet and ground the rounded tip off and just drilled a little hole in it. Just seemed to look very crude to me. I will try to post up a pic to show what I mean

Re: ammo on sale
I have always thought of Monarch as a low end plinking ammo. I was real surprised to hear they were attempting a hollow point, "low cost", round. I would be amazed if the bullet they were loading on that round were a Sierra or Speer. I would love to see a pic of this round. Thanks for the info.Spanky wrote:I forgot to mention....has anyone noticed that the monarch JHP round seems to be a very crude hollow point design. Re: ammo on sale
As Monarch branded rounds seem somewhat in good supply, does anyone know of any ballistic tests have ever done on that brand? I know they are made in Serbia.

As far as performance , yesterday I shot a box of the JHP and two boxes of FMJ through my LCP without any problems and I didn't notice that it's any dirtier than any other ammo that I use. I'll be buying more of it due to its price .
