I work at Texas Highway Markings. We stripe all the major Freeways and roads in the state of Texas. I am currently trying to move into Law Enforcement.

I just wanted to thank everyone for praying for me when I was sick, and for my job!

I'm new myself, but I can tell you that there is a lot of great discussion and information here.

And JR... best of luck getting into law enforcement.

Age: 30-ish (I refuse to use the "other" similar descriptor)
Gender: M
Profession/school status: Higher Ed / terminal M.S. (probably about to start working on another)
Marital status: Yes, dear.
Years CHL: 0*
Texas State Representative / House District: Delwin Jones :banghead: / District 83
Carry guns/equipment: Don't carry.

* Sure, I'll probably alienate myself from the second day here, but..... I'm not a CHL, largely because I don't believe in them, for me, personally . That said, I love you guys/gals and am a perpetual advocate (which reminds me, I'm out and need to buy some more of those TSRA "CHL business cards"). My wife is thinking about getting her CHL, and I won't discourage her in the least. We are in the market for a carry gun for her (she likes the hammerless J-frames).

We will still welcome you & say again
Carry & when to carry is the decision of the individual.
We will still respect your point of view & you will ot be flamed, yelled at, or made fun of on this board.

welcome, shooter_tx.
I'm glad to hear your wife is considering a CHL. We'd love to have her join us as well.

As you can see, I'm not quite old enough to carry yet, but plan on starting as soon as possible... I've grown up out in the country, and have been around guns since I was old enough to walk. I've shot thousands of rounds, and carry a gun on our family ranch all the time. Looking forward to having a CHL should I ever need it, and figured I might as well hang out here and learn as much as possible before I turn 21!

Welcome aboard BShook. It is exciting to see several young people with character. You will learn a lot here. I actually learned more here than I did when I took my CHL class the first time. You don't have a long wait, so hang in there.

Great; thanks. I figured I'd catch all kinds of heck about it.

I can't carry at work due to a blanket/network of at least two state laws, so I couldn't carry 24/7 anyway. Which, by definition, would make me a guesser. ;-)

Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for several months, and I figure it's time to introduce myself and start posting at least occasionally.

Age: 21
Gender: male
school status: undergrad at Rice University, majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology
CHL: received card about 5 weeks ago
TX State Rep District: 134 (Houston area)
Carry guns: alternate between Ruger .357 magnum revolver and a Springfield GI 1911

That's about it for now.
