Houston we have a problem. Jogging with your conceal weapon.

Post by buddyhotrod »

Took the XDS 3.3 45acp out again this evening for a jog, problem is that when I made it back home the gun was covered in sweat and the holster I have was also wet with sweat.

Sweat on brand new hand gun not good.
Had to do a complete cleaning and lube of the weapon.

Now that I think of it I don't think there are any holsters out on the market that prevent sweat on the firearm while out running.

The Hybrid Holster has a large leather flap but still sweat can run down and over it getting the firearm wet.

Hmmmmmm

Water proof holster, easy to wear while out jogging but yet easy accessibility.
hmmmm

any other runners out there that go jogging with their firearm?

For some odd reason I feel like posting this type topic to this forum is hopeless and everyone on the board is just looking at me like a dog that just got shown a card trick.
I take it there are not many CHL peeps that go running with there weapon.

:deadhorse:
Be kind and rewind.

Jogging is bad for you anyway.

A pistol without a round chambered is an expensive paper weight.

They also have a "PT-1" that's larger, but if you're running you're not going to want to carry a big gun.

Perhaps I'm missing something... What's the problem with cleaning your gun after you go for a jog again?

Pistol wear all the way. I can run with my shield but it is a little heavy. I usually take a snub or p32. Basically I have found that anything over 15 ounces loaded is kind of a pain but you can do it.

I am sure a cm9 could work well. I tried it once with my wife's lc380 and even though it was only 4 ounces less loaded then the shield it seemed much easier to run with. The snub is a little chunkier but lighter then the lc. The p32 is under 10 ounces loaded and I forget it is there.

I wear under armor compression shorts underneath basketball shorts and usually stick my LCR in a Nemesis pocket holster IWB of the compression shorts. Only thing that gets wet is the grip. The holster does a good job of repelling the sweat and it doesn't budge. It's the only one I can comfortably exercise with without worrying about it falling out.

Mr. Hotrod,

We live in Spring and we walk and jog almost everyday. So we know and understand the sweat and rain issue your faced with.

Getting a reliable CCW in a hot, humid and at times dusty/dirty environment for everyday carry was the reason I ended up with Glocks. I tried multiple manufacturers including 1911's and for me - the Glocks are by far the most reliable - and will eat up any ammo.

That is the reason I went to a G-26 years ago for my CCW. Sweat and rain soaked regularly when walking, jogging and doing yard work. The Glocks shoot and function reliably. And with very minimal care and cleaning - mostly for my confidence since it is my CCW, I have had 100% reliability with the Glocks.

Having said all that - just got the wife a Sig Sauer P-938 for her as she has small hands and prefers the single stack over her G-26. We will see how it does over the next year as far a reliability and maintenance needs.

For holsters - I have all kinds of IWB and OWB. I use my everyday holsters for walking and jogging and working outside. I do have a few of the Glock Sports Holsters and they are very good especially if I know I am jogging and it will be a sweat soaked day.

Hope this helps.

The good thing with the Glock is that if it gets sweaty etc. you just swish it in a bucket of clean water and it's good to go again.
