What is a good Conceal gun and where should I mount?

#1

Post by buddyhotrod »

Hi

I have the G21C,I'm guessing this is too big to conceal. Is it ok that once the gun is covered by clothing that bulges of the gun are protruding?

Thinking about buying a G30 or possibly the G36 slim line anyone know of a good deal on NIB for one?

I'd like to have the handgun mounted on my front left hip. Any Holster advice?

Typically I do not ever wear coats or jackets and in the summer its T shirt and shorts.

Again is bulging allowed?

Thanks
Buddy

I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

In answer to the bulging issue: it is not illegal. However, if someone should recognize that you are carrying a gun and become frightened, you may get a visit from the police. You will most likely not be charged with anything but that would be awfully irritating and embarrassing and it may get you barred from a local establishment. MOST people, however, are clueless.

Make sure you read and understand the CHL-16. Know the laws because most people don't (including the police). Don't trust our opinions.
Armed not dangerous but potentially lethal.

Ok
Thank You

I will look into that.

Thanks again.

I have my CHL but feel there is so much more to learn before I start carrying.

I'm gonna go tomorrow and have that entire PDF printed.
That is some good info in there.

Bulges are a common concern with CHLers.

If the bulge isn't an outline easily defined as a gun, you're good to go.

I carry a Glock 19 in a OWB holster on my right and a spare magazine carrier on my left. My cover garment is usually a vest.

Not once in the many years I've been carrying has anyone questioned me about the vague bulges.

Also, a common concern is what will I say if someone decides to ask me about them.

Remember: You aren't required to answer such a personal question.

Depending on the hypothetical person who might ask (very unlikely, but of course not impossible) this very personal question, I might respond with: A blank stare and silence. I don't own anyone an explanation. Or, if I'm irritated with the questioner, I might respond with "and that's your business because..."?

I sometimes use an OWB, black, leather, zippered pack to carry my Glock and spare magazine. This is a fairly large pack, that's to say noticable and no one has ever even eyeballed it (that I'm aware of) or asked me what's inside.

Buddy, in the Day-to-Day section of the Forum, there is the best listing of holster makers I've ever seen. A sticky thread titled "A great holster resource, or words to that effect. Your choices are endless. It took me several days to decide on a holster. I opted of a IWB rig. I'm left handed so the choice was not as great as for the righties. I wear my gun at the 10:00 position and have no problem with printing. I decided on a Don Hume IWB and it has served me well.

You'll soon learn to 'dress around your holster'. That is what kind of shirts to wear to conceal.

As what kind of conceal gun to get, you'll get as many opinions as there are members on the board. I'm not a big guy, so I carry a gun that's proportional to my size. Eg, a guy who's 5'6" might have a little trouble adequately concealing a full size 1911. OTOH, a guy who's 6'4" wouldn't have any trouble at all. Make, model, caliber, are ALWAYS a topic of never ending discussions. ;-) Keep asking away! That's how we all learn. :tiphat:

Remember not to do things like tugging and pulling at your shirt or resting your hand on the guns butt.

Hmmm

ok So size is a factor? I'm 6'3 215lbs and tonight tried going out with my Glock 21C 45 ACP and it was extremely uncomfortable.
I enjoy going jogging and am typically wearing t shirt and shorts here in North Texas.Rarely in the winter unless it is a blizzard or freezing I do not wear a jacket.
My Friend recommended the Springfield XD-S 3.3. So far My considerations for a conceal weapon are the Alaskan 44 Mag, The Glock 30 or the Glock 36 45 ACP, The Walther P22 or the Springfield XD-S 3.3.
LOL
I know Huge caliber to small cal.

To each his own I guess.
Would like to stick with a 45 just because I already have so much 45 ammo.

My buddy has a shoulder harness which looks very comfortable, But I do not wear suits very often.

Take a look at glock 30S. Slimmer than the 30 but more capacity than the 36. Im 5'9" 170lbs. And i carry it 4 o'clock in a iwb kydex holster.(made by me off course). Very comfy and comforting.
'got to Texas ASAIC.
