Your friend is not alone in her beliefs. Unfortunately, I run into far too many so called "educated people" who have the exact same views as your friend.
I do my best to educate these people as to the true nature of concealed carry laws and concealed carry license holders themselves, but in many cases, these people just don't want to learn anything that conflicts with their precious anti-gun beliefs.
The sad thing is that there is far more misinformation being distributed by anti-gunners than there are factual studies showing that the more law abiding CHL holders you have, the less violent crime there is in a community.
I will never understand how some people can't comprehend the fact that when law abiding citizens are denied the means to protect themselves, criminals win.
It absolutely makes my stomach churn.Nearly everyone that is a close relative or friend of mine is "gun ignorant" and a "sheeple".....it's just too sad. I actually had an acquaintance say she was more afraid of people with CHLs than criminals. I won't go into the discussion that ensured (if you can even consider it a discussion) but her thinking was that they were used to guns and only used them to rob stores and such and the CHL holders just carried guns around being macho and when they got mad they'd shoot someone. Now isn't that enough to make your stomach churn?

Ahhhhh, not quite. I'll bet she's proud of her silly ideas, but she does not believe herself to be a moron.QB wrote:frankie the yankee -- very well said.......
She's way beyond moron and PROUD OF IT!
Very few people do, especially those who really are morons.
That's why if she or someone like her spouted some nonsense like that, that was so easily refuted, I would take the trouble to refute it, so that I could then ask her how such a stupid idea ever got into her head.
My goal would be to make her actually realize that she was a moron.
And I have found that it is not always a hopeless quest. Sure, there's the nature/nurture thing. But many morons are "redeemable" in that they are only morons because they have fallen into dogmatic ways of thinking - or been led there by poor educators and possibly peer groups.
And of course even if she was beyond "redemption", I'm sure I could thoroughly upset her and make her uncomfortable with some of her silly notions, and less willing to spout them off in public.
As Mark Twain once said, "It's better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

People are always wanting to point at England and their reduction in gun crime. While true, it's been on the upswing lately. First of all, they are an Island. Over here if you banned guns they'd be coming in from Mexico so fast it would make your head spin. That's where all the drugs come from. Aren't drugs illegal by the way? If so, then why are there so many over here? Why can an addict still get his fix every day?3) There ARE guns, and there always will be. So the only real question is WHO will have them. The government? Criminals? LAC's? Some of the above? Or all of the above?
4) Even in gun-ban societies such as the UK, criminals manage to get ahold of guns. So the realistic option is that the government and criminals will have them.
I think you see where I'm going with this. Make guns illegal and the only difference is that the price would increase. It would also create a huge black market. Of course I'm preaching to the choir anyway...
