Gander Mountain Arlington

#1

Post by JRG »

hey guys,

I have been in Arizona since mid November, but before I left the Arlington area I noticed that a Gander Mountain was being built off I-20. Now that it is March, and I am heading back to Texas in 2 weeks I was wanting an update. Is that GM open?

Hope your experience with GM is better than mine in SATX. Regarding guns and ammo they made Cabela's and Bass pro look like price cutters and Academy must be selling stolen merchandise. LOL Wasn't impressed at all.

I was excited to see Gander Mountain open near me in Round Rock. I had never been to one before. It's a nice place with a good selection, but the seem a little pricey. I've been on a few occasions, and they don't seem to be very busy beyond their grand opening. One thing I can say is that it is much easier to spend some time looking around. (In contrast to the cattle call at Cabela's)

Secondhand information that I got is that GM's salespeople work on commission,
hence the high gun prices.

But a friend says that they will "price match" if you can show a better deal elsewhere.
The pricematch policy doesn't appear to be published, though. YMMV.

GM has a billboard on I-35E in Lewisville that proclaims "Largest Gun Store in Texas".
It's true that their gun counter is quite large, but then again the prices are large too. :-)

SIA

It's here, directly from their site:

I too have found them to be more than pricey... robbery would be more in line.

There are enough "loop holes" in their price match offer to drive a Mack truck through - "must be in stock" is the biggest.

Is there going to be some grand opening sale or something? I imagine the grand opening would be ridiculous with or without a sale. The highlands are already hectic as is :waiting:

Bummer on the price reputation. Oh well, a girl can still window shop :biggrinjester:

I might be in trouble with it being right next door to my office. Although I have never bought anything because of the high prices. Guess it will give us something to do during lunch.

There is good and bad with most retailers. I couldnt care less about their retail pricing on guns - Its incredibly rare that I will pay retail, but competition in the market place is good, period.
Their price match is pretty standard for most retailers. Very few will price match a sold out item, IME. You all must have had different experiences though.

Besides, they sometimes have ammo that one one else has. Like .22 a couple weeks ago. Brick size. With a 10 box limit. It was a good Friday...

I have also bought 9mm from them at sale prices (during the panic that was early 2013). Fast shipping, no bull. And they have sales, just like all the others.
