Shoulder Holster?

I've never gotten in to shoulder holsters but just thinking now. I always thought you would have to wear an outer garment with one. But what about wearing the holster next to the skin with a loose fitting t shirt or button down over it?

I live and work in SE Texas. My plant can get up to 110F+. I usually go home at least once a day to change into dry clothes. It's already starting to sound like a bad idea to me. What's your take?

It's not like the movies, where James Bond can swim in underwater, remove his wet suit perfectly groomed and dressed in black tie and boutonniere, with his PPK discretely in the shoulder holster for instant access.

If it was otherwise, everybody would be doing it that way.

It's hard enough getting your pistol from concealment with IWB. Dragging one from a loose fitting t-shirt from under arm would be very tricky indeed, it seems to me, having never tried it, you understand.

I would actually love to try one, but for winter with vests and jackets.

Leather chafes. I have a good quality shoulder holster, and it takes about 30 seconds of wearing it without an undershirt to teach one the error of doing so. Add in the weight of a pistol, and it really digs. You'll acclimate to wearing two shirts. I did. I wear two shirts even with a belt holster.

Best shirt I've found for accessing a shoulder holster is a pearl-snap shirt. Yeah, people will ask you where your horse is. But unless you're fond of replacing buttons, a snap-down is the only way to go. T-shirts and polos don't really give you that good an access; they bunch up and drag on the gun, holster, and hand.

When I need to be dressy or in cooler weather, I like my Kangroo Carry under the arm holster, it's comfortable, well designed and made but can be hot in warmer weather. (I've found under the arm carry to be easier on me weight-wise than on my hip by the way.)

I would also check policy at your plant. Most of the plants in SE Texas that I am aware of won't hardly let you take in a pocket knife, much less a firearm. Also, I can only imagine what all that sweat would do to an EDC being exposed everyday.

Great carry method. Button up shirt is all I wear every day. No t-shirt, no problem.

Somewhere in my house I have a pretty nice leather one for a glock 19/23. I haven't used it in so long I don't recall where I put it. It was cooler to wear when I was a single guy back in the early 90's as the women loved it It is nice on some occasions, but when you want to take your jacket off forget it. If you are going to get one, get a good one. I paid about 120 bucks in the 90's for it... It lasted and is secure unlike some of those 25 ebay jobs.
