I appreciate your prompt and to the point reply to my question. As much as I love my full size XDm, I don't like being without its tiny brother available. I guess I have enough patience for 3-4 weeks.

Since I was quick to respond to the recall, I hope my gun will be taken care of in the first wave.

I hope you're right. Seems like they have an awful lot of these to fix, and that is a fast turnaround considering how many are out there.

I am sure that many XDs owners haven't sent theirs in yet. Some — haven't found out about the recall. I know of a few, who want to wait a few months; others want to wait out the first wave. Someone else said that he is not going to send his in at all, because he believes that this problem is isolated to a few guns, not the whole line. Only well informed owners (like the members of this forums and other gun owner groups) responded to the recall promptly. I think that the 3-4 weeks turnaround time seems reasonable and realistic. However, this is just an estimate. I am sure, we will know more, once the first guns will start getting returned, and people will post about it...

I agree. I would be beside myself, if I didn't have my trusted full size XDm and another gun (I prefer not to mention, as I am going to get rid of that piece...).

I have read some comments by those, whose only gun was the XDs, and I understand their frustration. I didn't want to put salt on their wounds by telling them they should have had at least one backup, because I am sure that they realize it now. It even makes me want to go ahead and buy another gun. I don't need it, but I want it. I was going to wait until Christmas, but I think I am going to go ahead and get an XDm 3.8" this week...

I get more excited about buying a new gun than buying a new car!

Just went to Academy and bough a $10 can of gun scrubber...gonna give it a good scrub and bide my time. I'm planning on sending it in, but not until the masses have theirs back. Maybe in January when it is cold and I can carry something else.

I have another gun...a nice one...but the challenge is finding something to carry it in.

It's a S&W Model 60-4 3"...I can find holsters all day long for 2" J-frames but holsters for a 3" are alot slimmer pickins.

Indeed. It gave me an excuse to get a CM9 at the High Caliber show this weekend.

Try Kholster. To my knowledge, they can make holsters for every handgun known to man. They even do custom jobs...

I bought 4 holsters from Kholster, and all of them got to me VIA USPS on exactly the 9th day after I ordered them. I seriously doubt you will get the XDS sooner than 9 days...

We all hope for a quick turnaround, but from reading the XD talk forums, it is clear to me that A LOT of XDs owners have sent their guns in, so Springfield has their work cut out for them.

I received notice this morning that mine just got there at 9:58 AM this morning. Let's see how quickly they are going to get it done.

Not a bad choice. I have a PM9 which I'll gladly carry while my XDS is out for "upgrades" (as SA is calling it).
