Cabelas in Ft Worth looks similar. I was in yesterday, they had about 8ft of shelf with .223. PMC, Herters, American Eagle, Winchester, and a few others.

On the other side they had quite a bit of .40 and .45, but no 9mm.

I stopped by Gander Mountain today. It is a very nice store, but their prices are crazy high. They had plenty of 9mm Blazer Brass. It was in 350 round boxes and were priced at 119.99. That's over $17 per 50. I know the market is tight, but that is a bit steep for cheap practice rounds.

I perused the pistols. They were really high. Cabelas and BassPro are both $50-75 lower on most pistols. There is an Academy across the street. While they don't have the large selection, they are priced much better. The guy behind the counter told me that if I bought a pistol, they had an in store special that would give me 5% off on ammo or other accessories. That doesn't even bring the pistol back to a competitive price.

There are too many options within driving distance to pay their prices. Hopefully, they will meet the market. It is a nice store and very convenient.

Prior to the shortage, 9mm Blazer brass was $12 a box. Getting it at $17/box isn't great, but when you go 6 months without seeing any, it doesn't seem too bad. Even WWB at Wal-Mart is up $2-$3 per box over 2011 prices.

I was at Academy today and saw 10-12 boxes of 4.6x30. I don't know how hard it is to get, but I know it's sort of an obscure round. 50 round bx $26.99

Its hard to complain about practice rounds at 34c per, when it has been non-existent under 50c per round up until about 2 months ago.

With that said, Cabelas had PMC 9mm at $22 per box last time I saw it there. Last time I bought Blazer Brass I got a "case" (10 boxes) for $14 per box, and that was at Gander Mountain (online), with free shipping.

Academy normally has Rem UMC at $14.99 per box, or $29 for 100 rds (last time I got a box was back in March or April there...) I just bought some at Cabelas for under $13 per box over the weekend online, waiting for it to arrive at the store.

All I am saying is, I have not found any single large retailer (WM, Academy, Cabelas, GM, Bass Pro) to be "over priced". Sure, WM and Academy have consistently low prices - but I dont like to buy 1-2 boxes at a time, and since I leave for work before they open, I cannot get in line for the bulk packs, so I cant really go there to get ammo now days. So I find good pricing at the bigger places where I can regularly beat the pricing at WM and Academy. But I dont go in and pay shelf prices either.

Good luck to all in finding ammo - its out there! (except for .22...)

And to not kill the vibe...

Cabelas Ft Worth - was there this evening. 50+ boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm for $14.99 per box.
1 box of WWB 100pack for 29.99
30+ boxes of Herters Brass (S&B mfg) for 13.99 per box
20+ boxes of Herters nylon coated ammo (silver box) for 13.99 per box

1 box American Eagle 38spl.

Also was able to order 8 boxes of Fed American Eagle 147gr online earlier today for 14.99 per box.

Good luck to all the ammo seekers!

Hey el chupo,

Where were you able to score the 147 gr ammo online?

At Cabelas.com, but it sold out pretty quick.

I saw it, ordered, and told a friend about it (he got some), but it was gone when I checked a little later.

Plenty of 55 gr 5.56 Federal & Remington at GT Distributors in Austin. Remington in 200 round cases. Federal in 500 round cases. Cost is .45 / round. Also plenty of Magpul Gen2 & Gen3 magazines.

I stopped by GT Distributors in Dallas today. They had Hornady Critical Duty ammo in all available calibers. All of it is marked "LE Only" except for the .45 ACP.

I picked up two 50-round boxes for $29.99 each + tax. These are the 220 gr .45 +P rounds.

Location of sighting: Walmart, Swisher Road/FM2181, Hickory Creek, Denton County, Texas.
Date and time of sighting: 9/10/2013, 505 PM.

Ammo spotted:
.25 Auto - 3 boxes. These seem to have been sitting in this store for weeks.

9MM, TulAmmo/BrassMaxx, FMJ, 115 grains, 100 round value pack, $22.97.
50 round boxes of the same: Plenty but I don't recall the price.
They had so much of this ammo that I couldn't even count it all. Thousands of rounds for sure.

WWB, .40 & .45 ACP: Well-stocked on these too.
