I suppose I'll introduce myself in my second post, because I already started my first here to ask a question...
I've got a couple of guns handed down to me by my father, and I'd like to get them checked out before attempting to fire them at the range. I know that there are plenty of great gunsmiths around, and I'm sure that y'all can point me in some directions.
The first gun is a Carcano bolt-action (6.5x52) of undetermined vintage, which he picked up in Italy during the 1970s. It seems to be in decent shape, but hasn't been fired in decades.
The second gun is a reproduction black-powder Navy Colt .44. I believe it is an Italian reproduction as well, but he doesn't remember if he got it in Italy with the Carcano. Not sure if I'll ever shoot this one, but I would like it to be in shape just in case I get a time-warp itch.
I'm just looking for these to get back to original condition, worthy of the occasional range session. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

Re: Gunsmiths in FW?
Andrew in Southlake is very good. British chap, other than that flaw he is awesome. ADM Gun & Rifle makers is his company. Shop is off 114 & Kimball. I live 50 miles west near the Jack County line in the middle of nowhere and have a gunsmith out here but he is not near the caliber of Andrew. He has repaired a Browning .22 rifle flawlessly that I left in my ATV gunboot and the tube rusted from the acid in the cotton lining when morning dew dampened it. 3 days and wham. Solid Rust.
He has replaced sights on 1911s and these jobs have been perfect the first go around. I'll be dropping off a Model 74 Winchester on Monday for a complete tear down, cleaning & parts check. No issues with this rifle but it was my grandma's bought in 1947, then my dad carried it for 20 years and I've had it for at least 10. Since my dads gun shop is in Tennessee I have been transferring firearms to a local gun shop here in Wise County but will start using Andrew for everything from now on since he can do transfers now.
Good luck finding a gun smith....
