Not that long ago people were forking over $700 for these at gun shows. I laughed at the stupidity of it all.SQLGeek wrote:TAM, what I mean is from a handling perspective not firepower. The Annoyed Man wrote:They are both 9mm, so what does "too little gun" mean?
Thanks everyone for the information. Sounds like $499 is very fair all things considered.

Price is relative on how much value a buyer places on an item. While $700 might be triple or quadruple of the cost to manufacture/distribute/market/sell, would I pay that much if I thought that a Shield would be perfect for my carry needs (and I couldn't find it elsewhere for cheaper)? Probably.
Fortunately, they seem to be widely available at $499 in Harris County.

I was interested in the shield at the time but not at that price point. Went with the XDs at a $100 less.armanius wrote:Price is relative on how much value a buyer places on an item. Good deal. Glad to see some sanity is creeping back into the market. I'll probably wait 6 months and pick up a used one for $375 or so, probably with a bunch of extras thrown in.probation_officer wrote:I paid $449.00 plus tax two weeks ago for a Shield 9mm in Rusk.

Re: M&P Shield Pricing
I'm trying to talk myself out of parting with the CM9 to help fund a Shield purchase but that is easier said than done I'm afraid.
Other than front pocket carry being an issue, I'm not coming up with many arguments not to get the Shield.

Well I got a little bonus at work so I'm taking that as the go ahead to buy the Shield and sell the Kahr. The extra outlay shouldn't be too bad. Now I just need to find one. Hopefully Carter's still has some.

Re: M&P Shield Pricing
I bought mine a little over a week ago and still have yet to fire it. I'm taking it to the range today to run a few rounds through it. This will be my second Shield to own. I'm sure it will be as fun to shoot as the first one was.

An alternative to the Shield 9 is the new XDS in 9mm. It's finally hitting the market. Best pricing for it is around $499. Most places selling XDS 45 for $599.

That would be my choice and may soon be if I can find one...
With the extended magazine you get 9+1 in a single stack.
Not bad for a very slim pistol.
My Glock 19 in the summer is growing larger...

My buddy had one at his shop in FL for $449. Guess what is winging its way to me now.
