Re: Introduce yourself
I sort of introduced myself in another thread but I'll make it official here:
Age / sex: 48, male
Profession: Information management technical adviser (petrochemical industry)
Marital status / children: Married with a 20 year old "kid"
Firearms: See signature below. The XD subcompact is my CCW
I have been around firearms most of my life although I haven't owned that many. My wife and I got serious about it after moving to the Houston area. We took the CHL class December 1, 2012, submitted my application on December 2, and I received my CHL on 1/18/13. My wife is planning to send in her app very soon. I'm planning to add a pump shotgun to my collection for HD, probably a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. I'm also a native Texan!

Re: Introduce yourself, newbie just sayin hi
Hi to all.
I am a 54 year old lady, been married 2 years, x-biker with two grandsons.
I've finished my paperwork for my CHL, I've got my fingerprint appointment and a date for my CHL class. My Dad put a rifle in my hands at the age of 10 and taught me how to shoot turtles off a log in our lake. I thought I was a modern day Annie Oakly cause I hit all the turtles I shot at, later I found out, they ALL just fell off the log . I'm retired due to a nasty motorcycle accident where my foot popped off of my leg, the Dr. Saved my foot, but walking is a bit of a problem. I am super excited to get my CHL because I've had a handgun since 1977 and would love to carry it. There's so much crazy out there, the bad guys seem to hit when people are at their most vulnerable, I have been raped twice, and would like a fighting chance if trouble ever comes my way again. I thank God for every day and love life to it fullest, living each day like it was my last.
I'm grateful for this site and am enjoying hours of reading the posts. Thank you for all of your knowledge, you are answering all of my questions, with the click of the mouse. God Bless You and Thank You, Cynthia

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi All,
My new friend RPB suggested I post in here... I'm a 42-year-old married male, father of two boys. I'm a pistol enthusiast, not really into the rifle scene.
I like to read, have a Masters in psychology, and I work as an IT director of a small manufacturing company. I'm usually in the Beaumont area, and I am ashamed to say I lived in Vidor for a bit
Hugs to all,
Tuna

Re: Introduce yourself
Since I already posted a question, I thought posting an intro might be polite.
I've been happily married to my high school sweetheart for almost 19 years, in my late 30s, female, stay at home mom to 5 great kids ages 15 down to 1.
We've had a major life upheaval and just moved from acreage way out in the boonies to a little one acre lot in small town Texas. Living amongst humanity again has reminded me that not all people are good. So, if I can work taking the class around the needs of my still nursing youngest I'm going to get my CHL pronto. I was so young the first time I fired a gun I don't even remember (thanks Dad), they've been a normal part of my life always. My firearm usage has been pretty mundane. Out in the country, if something was threatening the animals and couldn't be driven off I dispatched it to meet its maker. I never liked shooting our shotgun, a .22 often wouldn't cut it so my Ruger Redhawk .44 magnum has been my go to critter getter. And for those of you laughing at the overkill factor, I did too until coming face to face with a startled irritated wild pig. Then I was darn thankful for single shot take down power. I just bought a little Ruger SP101 .357 magnum with a shrouded hammer, can't wait to be able to carry it concealed!!

Re: Introduce yourself
Greetings like-minded peoples!
Here's my spec. sheet:
38 yrs (almost 39)
Male
Industrial Vegetation Management Guru
Married for 15 yrs with a 12 yr old son (he's a good shooter by the way)
Scheduled for CHL Class on 2/9/13
I'm a "Glock guy", which is what I intend to carry. I own several but will carry my G26 or G19 when I am within my rights to do so.
Hopefully I'll get to shoot with some of you folks in the future...thanks for your time!
btw: It is presently irritating me to no end to see locally purchased ammo being resold for twice to three times the original purchase price. If you dont need it for your own stock, leave it on the shelf for those that do.
