I agree, I haven't had the courage to detail strip any of my Stars. In fact I took one to a gunsmith and paid way too much money to have anon-functional thumb safety corrected. If it were a 1911 I'd have had no problem fixing it myself.

[quote="68Charger"] It's a hard chrome one with pearl grips. It does look like something that a Colombian drug lord with Gaudy tastes would wield.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :-)

I think it looks great. Who cares if General George S. Patton would think you are a procurer of the New Orleans persuasion?

This gun appealed to you in the pawn shop. Keep it the way it is. Let your freak flag fly. :-)

I had considered buying a Taurus pistol with pearl grips. I thought it looked fine. But then when I picked up that double-stacker,
the grip felt like it was 3 ax handles wide. My hands weren't big enough to hold it well.

I agree with this. Its worth at least a trip to the range before you decide to ditch it.

SIA was referring to General Patton's famous line about pearl handle vs ivory grips. :coolgleamA:

I am a fan of the Eibar Arms products myself. I was given a firestar M40 a few years ago that shoots amazingly well. Let me know if you ever decide to part with it; I might be able to scrounge up enough cash to add another Star firearm to my collection.

Like others said, they are great unless you need a part that cannot be repaired or repurposed from another gun. On that same note I read somewhere online that worn springs from the Star firearms can be replaced with springs from other manufacturers with little to no modification.

At last count I had 23 various Spanish autoloaders.

I'm always looking for more, so send me those orphan Spaniards wasting away in your sock drawer

Thanks to all whom replied.

I'm going to take it to the range soon if work and weather permits. I'll send a range report. Prolly going to feed it nothing but FMJ's of brass & steel ammo. I heard it eats anything, so here's a chance to prove it. Just not +P..

Lonestar, let me know if you come across the website to some of the Star products/mods. Who knows, I might need one.

You won't find much on mods, most people keep them original, except for finish and grips.

Here is my problem. The front sight is actually crooked. You'll notice it more when you line up the sights, but this picture shows it well. :/
