Been there, done that. I have a P229/357Sig. I have a Hoffner Hybrid IWB holster for it. I can conceal it without a problem.
However, it is real heavy!! I never carry it. I carry something lighter and smaller.

PS I almost never shoot 357Sig either, too expensive, I have a Bar-Sto 9mm conversion barrel.

I carry a Ruger P 89. I'll carry it til next spring. I have my eye on a mid sized Armalite 9mm. Gotta save my pennies. My lgs keeps them in stock. I'm a sucker for the 1911 platform. Something about the hammer being visible is comforting to me.

The p229 would probably be a steep learning curve for your first CCW. I have one and carry it sometimes but I cut my teeth on a polymer framed 9mm which is quite a bit lighter. The XDM would be easier to learn the CHL ropes with IMO...

I have a Galco King Tuk for my P229 and find that is not a big problem to conceal or carry. Loaded up with a full mag it is heavy. A good belt and pants about 1 size larger are a must for me. I think the King Tuk is similar to the Crossbreed but maybe a little less in price. I hear a lot of recommendations on the Crossbreed but have not tried on. Anyway, consider the King Tuk. I'm 6'3" and over 260 lbs for what its worth.
