As for your P11, 400 rounds with no failures is about double what the 'experts' recommend to qualify a new gun for carry.

The only reason my super reliable Kel-Tec P11 is no longer my BUG/Office carry, is it was replaced by my equally super reliable Taurus PT-145 in my favorite caliber. The P-11 does still do duty as the nightstand gun and it still rides in my cowboy boot cuff, in an Uncle Mikes single clip IWB on sunday at church. If I walk outside through the front door the P-11 slips into the pocket of whatever I have on, out the rear door the PT-145 is in that capacity. I have no problems relying on the P-11 to protect me and my family if called upon to do so. I must have over 5000 rounds through the gun and have had only one FTF....when a squib factory load pushed the bullet about half way down the barrel from the primer only.

I work with a guy who carried a p-11 for many years. he got hooked on glocks so now his wife carries it... he or she brings it every time we go shooting and never a problem!

If you go on any 1911 forum, you will find people with problems with brand new Kimbers, Springers and almost any other brand of 1911 you want to name. At the same time, there are a ton of people who have broken in their 1911, no longer have problems, and trust their lives to it. About the only brands that I haven't read the same story on forums are Glock, Ruger and Sig. For every other brand, you can find people who didn't have any trouble right out of the box and others that did.

With 400 rounds through your KT without a problem, I would say it is good to go. I have a P11 that I carry.

I have no experience with a P-11, but the only time I trust my life to my Kel-Tec P3AT is during those times when I cannot conceal my Glock 22. If I have a choice, I'll take my Glock over my Kel-Tec any day of the week...but a Kel-Tec in the pocket is better than a Glock in the safe.

From what I understand though, the P-11 is by far Kel-Tecs most reliable handgun. If you have fired 400 rounds through it with ZERO malfunctions then I would consider it to be reliable...at least for now.

I purchased my P-11 from a Pawn Shop 4 years ago. I take it to the range about 3 times a month and shoot a box (50) through it each time. I have never had any problems of any kind.

I trust mine.

My P3AT was unreliable at first like your friends. A couple hundred rounds later I've shot about 130 round with no malfunctions. I trust it now. It needs a good cleaning and a break in period.

I've had my two KelTecs for a couple of years. Both have been 100% reliable and "reasonably" accurate at self defense range. Neither are target pistols, but then I didn't buy them expecting that either. Center mass hits are no problem with either at a reasonable distance.

No "fluff 'n buff" or trips back to Cocoa necessary.

Having said that, the P11 is at the bottom of my favorites list when I can cc a 9mm... I have other compacts that are simply much more accurate, and "feel better", with better trigger/strikers.. But each of those cost over twice as much as the little P11. The P11 "is what it is", and I have no concern about reliability or durability..

The P32 is my final "anyplace, anytime" choice for cc. Actually my wife has confiscated it and now for a bug I use my first series NAA Guardian. Both the Guardian and the P32 are about the same in accuracy, but the KT is lighter.. Either pistol with 32cal ammo are preferable TO ME than harsh words..

I think in my limited experience KelTecs are well worth the money, and IMO the P32's and the P11's are the "picks of the litter" in KT pistols. The first series P3AT's were iffy, as are the early PF-9's..

If you ever have the chance, shoot a Walther P99c/AS.. Finest pistol in an overall package I've ever seen... Fantastic accuracy..

But, I'm prejudiced..

I have five Kel-tecs, two P-40s, one P11 and two P3Ats. The P11 and one P3AT are my travel weapons and the other P3 is in my pocket right now as my Kimber rests beside me on the table. The P3s are both 1st gen. The P11 is really fun to shoot and accurate. The P40s are beasts, pure and simple. I will probably sell them soon - well maybe later this year.

When I decide to part ways with them I will post them here first. The P40s are no longer in production. They are the same frame as the P11. KT used to offer the P40 kit and I believe a kit for the 357 Sig. If I sell one I will probably use the funds to purchase another 9mm since the P11 is the only one of this caliber I have.

But the P40 was dropped due to the numerous returns when there was nothing wrong with the pistol.

It appears to be a very difficult pistol to control to the point that it will function reliably.

Sort of a limp wristing problem to the Nth degree.

No personal experience here, just read many, many KTOG posts.

My dad carries a Kel-Tec .32. This is usually his primary carry, although I'm slowly talking him into carrying the .45 a bit more often, as he does not share my aversion to the fanny pack. (Daddy has never been a slave to style.)

He does shoot a lot, and I don't think he would carry it if he didn't think it would go bang if he needed it to.

There were also numerous returns because there WAS something wrong with them. Mine was one of them. And I promise you, I wasn't "limp wristing".

After giving Kel-Tec two tries at fixing it, I finally gave up, sent it to Jack Fuselier (who DOES know) how to fix them....and never had another problem with it.

I had big time problems with Kel-Tec (the company) shortly thereafter, but thats another story.
