As long as the 9mm holds more that six rounds. Otherwise why not a revolver?zero4o3 wrote:... that being said, I agree if you can find one you like pocket 9mm is probably the best choice over a .38 / .380 but from that point I say if you buy a quality gun in either caliber your gonna fine.

Re: Your thoughts on which 380 pocket carry
I love my p238. All around the best pocket sized .380 IMO. Now if we are going with 9mm even with its thickness I like my g26. Sure its a brick but feels good shoots good and has never failed on me. I have over 600 rounds thru the p238. Only issues I have had so far is one of my magazines feel apart. Also a couple rounds that just failed to fire. I blame that on the ammo.
As far as stopping power per se, I am not really worried. I can fire 29 rounds at the bg. 3 magazines worth of jhp.

My Sig P230 SL fits nicely in my pants pocket. You know what, I've yet to see anyone volunteerin' to get shot by a 9mm Kurz or aka .380 acp. YMMV?

Re: Your thoughts on which 380 pocket carry
I have no "buyers remorse" with my Seecamp. I just have the .32 and I am perfectly content with it. The .380 is a hand biter but I also cannot think of a better pocket gun. Its like its not even there, unless you need it, and then out of "nowhere" you make it appear.
Heck its not even much bigger than my CHL license!
IMO if you want a pocket .380 then you might as well get the smallest you can. If you get anything much bigger than you might as well go with .38spec or 9mm.

Re: Your thoughts on which 380 pocket carry
I agree the smallest 380 possible but even though p238 is not the smallest it is the one I shot with the highest degree of accuracy. I have tried several. I do know how many people are comfortable putting a single action in their pocket though. If i was going to pick one for pocket only then I guess the lcp is a good fit.
A pocket gun is useless no matter the caliber if you can't present it in a timely fashion and fire it with accuracy.
Oh and I am with oldgringo I haven't had anyone raise their hand to get shot by any gun no matter the caliber.

My Micro Desert Eagle kicks like a small mule.
The good part is that it is solid enough that when it runs out of ammo I can throw it at someone and probably inflict an equal amount of damage to one of its rounds. It is pretty small too.

I am comfortable with a holstered double action in my pocket. I wouldn't just let it flop around that definitely seems to invite trouble single or double action.
Also, as far as sights and accuracy... I find Larry Seecamp's little blurb interesting here: http://seecamp.com/faq.htm#No%20Sights on why there are no sights on the seecamp. Its "point and shoot" "gut gun" "get off me gun" whatever you want to call it.

I pocket carry, a XD40SC when I can and a LCP when the pockets are too small. I agree about a holster, I like the DeSantis line. I don't carry anything in the pocket with the gun, I feel safer with a holster and it keeps the properly orented better.

Hmmm, I have a TCP and it functions as a BUG for my Sigs. Money doesn't appear to be a factor.FishInTx wrote:Rich? Buy a Kahr.
Poor? Buy a Keltec or Rugar.
Really poor? Buy a Taurus.
I hate Taurus (personal history with their crappy Millenium Pros), but was sold once I handled and shot the TCP. Better fit and finish than Ruger or KelTec. Not as nice as the P238, but not sure about putting a cocked and locked SA gun in my pocket.
I've now put 300+ rounds of fmj and 100 rounds of Ranger-T through the TCP with zero issues and trust it with my life.

I shot my wife's new P238 this past weekend, and except for the trigger, which bites my excessively large trigger finger, and I would carry it.68Charger wrote:Nothing about a Sig P238? Wow..
I love my miniature 1911. They have tons of holsters for it and are extremely reliable. Shoots everything I have fed it so far without any hiccups.

If you look around you can find triggers for it. There are some far better options for the uncomfortable plastic trigger.

Yeah, but it's hers, and I don't get to modify it for my comfort.OrangeAnimal wrote:If you look around you can find triggers for it. There are some far better options for the uncomfortable plastic trigger.

none of them
Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout "Bang!"......George Will

Barstool I don't think that was an option. Also why do you say that? A lot of folks carry a bug in their pocket. I don't carry in my pocket cause I use them for other items.
Re: Your thoughts on which 380 pocket carry
Go rent or shoot a sig p238. I have shot a buddies and I love it. I plan to purchase one as a back up carry for an ankle holster in my boot or as a shorts and tank top pocket carry gun.
