You know you read gun boards too much when..

Post by Stupid »

copied from another forum:

In the spirit of "You know you are a gun nut if..." (and the fact that I am bored), here is a little list I made of signals that might mean you read gun boards too much:

1. You have ever bought a gun for $500, then traded it and another $200 for a gun worth $600 and think you came out ahead.

2. Your response to the 9mm vs .45 debate is that a pistol is for fighting your way to a rifle.

3. You have argued that the 5.56 NATO outpenetrates the 7.62 NATO round, but in another thread reccomended an AR-15 for personal defense due to the fact that it is "less prone to over-penetration."

4. Your monthly ammunition costs exceed your mortgage payment.

5. When someone mentions your username in a thread you reply within five minutes.

6. When someone mentions your username in a thread everyone else rolls their eyes and chuckles knowingly.

7. You are more turned on by photos of another user's newest aquisition than dirty pictures.

8. You slam Ruger for being against second amendment rights, yet clamor for Norincos to be imported again from authoritarian China.

9. You refuse to buy a gun from a dealer due to the 4473; yet you post on public gun forums, are a member of a range, buy bulk ammunition off the internet, make videos of yourself shooting, regularly contact your representatives regarding gun control legislation, and are a card carrying member of the NRA - complete with bumper sticker.

10. You have ever felt the need to fit a bayonet lug and flash supressor to a .22 rifle.

11. You dislike a gun becuase a poster you find annoying is always championing it.

12. You have a .44 magnum loaded with SWCs for bear that you carry when walking in the city park.

13. You check every gunshop commando you meet using Veri-SEAL.

14. You have more posts than rounds fired.

15. You make a list called: You know you read gun boards too much when...

You obey the Four Rules...
When holding plant misters, window-cleaner sprays, etc.

You replace every-day words with military-sounding synonyms (e.g. "black" becomes "tactical", "reverse parking" becomes "combat parking", etc).

You think in acronyms.

You spot calibers and numerical gun names everywhere.

Whenever you see a picture in the news of someone holding a gun, you check to see if they are keeping their finger clear of the trigger.

These three are from me:

1. You start to transfer articles from one gun forum to another
2. Whenver you see a number like .237 or .487, you immediately think it means caliber.
3. You get used to talk in milimeter

let's not forget in that list

1. You check out a cop's rig while he is busy writing you a speeding ticket

2. During traffic stops when the cop asks where your gun is after handing him your CHL you ask "which one"

3. You boycott the local newspaper because they have a 30.06 sign at their office

I add these because I am guilty
It is easier to get an airport security clearance than a CHL

- The tendency to carry a ridiculously expensive folding knife clipped to one's front pocket despite never having had much training in how to employ the same during a personal combat situation.
The last train out of any station will not be filled with nice people.

1 You daydream about the features of a 1911 .45 while you are at work.

2. You pause and rewind your DVR any time a gun is seen on tv to check to see what caliber and make it is.

24, Prison Break, NCIS, and Numbers are my favorite to do that with.
and, of course, The Unit!!

I witnessed a traffic accident the other night, and stopped to render aid (as I am legally bound to do).
when the cops got there, I was relaying some pertinent info (the driver in one care switched seats with the passenger) and the whole time I was like, "Is that a G19, or G21...."

I'd like to have this happen at least once...

Or at least have to have a "list" describing what, and where they are, on your person, and in the vehicle...

Even worse, is that I have downloaded the Springfield Customs brochure and priced out the options I want on it, using the color printer at work, of course.
