+1 I agree with this and the above posters about many rounds without ANY FTF FTE problems.

I own three Glocks: G22, G17 RTF, and G 26 and the ONLY ONLY ONLY time I have had any issues was with a non-factory, 31 rd mag, out of literally several thousand rounds. This includes at least 10 different types of ammo, FMJ, JHP, +P, cheap ammo, "nice" ammo, at both competition, range, and carry (although never "used" during carry, thank God!)

I hate to sound like a huge Glock fanboy, but given the reliability, rare need for "major" cleaning, and availability/popularity, I will always have a Glock as my go-to and carry gun.

Having spent 25 years in the Army with a 1911, I used to be totally against Glocks - until I finally bought a Glock 26 (gen 4). I love it, and mine is VERY accurate even when compared to my Gold Cup.

I liked it so much, I also purchased a Glock 19 (gen 3). I have fired just about every type of ammo I could find thru it, and have never experienced a FTF or FTE. I put Trijicon night sights on both, and really like them - those bright green dots really show up nicely. While I don't have any problems with the grips on either one, I did put extended slide locks and extended slide releases on both. The gen 4 G26 has a larger mag release, and I like that. I put an extended mag release on the G19, but it sometimes seems a little too long to me.

I bought a couple of the Pearce 2/3 round mag extensions for the G26, but after putting one on a mag found that I'd rather carry it with the original magazine. The extension sticks out just enough to make it a little more difficult to conceal (for me anyway).

Anyway, the G26 is probably the one I carry most often, normaly in a Galco SkyOps holster and a 10 round mag with Winchester Talon +P. Love it!

CombatWombat wrote:All in all things i need to change are some better grips, extended mag release( couldn't drop the darn thing without getting awkward) Def some better sights! I had a hard time picking up a good sight picture rapidly. This pistol was really easy to familiarize with and I was very proficient within the first hundred or so rounds. 33 round mag was awesome! I'm not yet a hardcore believer in the Glock yet but don't worry I'll know after another trip to the range!
If this is going to be a carry gun, I recommend keeping the standard mag release. There is less chance of the mag release getting pushed during carry & causing a malfunction. Try pressing the mag release with the thumb of your support hand. For sights you might like the ameriglo hackathorn sights.

:iagree: Agree on "if carry gun" consider keeping the standard mag release

"if carry gun" seriously consider "tactical sights" which can be used to operate the weapon/rack slide etc if one hand/arm is busy ....or injured I still recommend ATS (Advantage Tactical Sights), but if you want to line up small dots (which take me longer to get a sight picture than making a triangle), get some sturdy tactical type you can use to rack the slide

catching on clothing etc is another reason I prefer the ATS over Meprolight/Trijicon etc Ledge-type tacticals .... the ATS angles you can sort of see in the photos .. and the height isn't such that it's easy to catch on clothing like other tactical sights

And Novak "snagless" sights are designed (sloping the wrong direction)to not catch while reholstering notice the direction/angle of slope (I find that backwards) and don't allow using as tactical sight to rack the slide on belt/shoe etc as one-handed operation.

Update: Went back to the range today and took the wife along. couple hundred rounds down the pipe no problems, thinkin about gettin a glock hat now! numbered all my mags for possible malfunction identification but it was all good! got home to discover the parts i ordered came in to include decal grips, +2 mag extension, ext slide release and ext slide release. The new slide release def sticks out to far so im going to split the diff from the original one and smooth up the corners. I already can't wait to get back out and shoot some more with it. Im still shopping around for sights and adhering to the previous recommendations, thanks guys!, and Im also still researching what I think will be the best trigger upgrade. Thanks for all the tips from all the old salty glock misers on the forum, Ill keep ya'll posted

336 has been replaced by 30274. Mine had 336 and I got brass to the face and stovepipes, so I replaced it but I have yet to see if it solves the problem.

Better sights are a good improvement. I'm picking up a set of Trijicon HD night sites this weekend, hopefully. They ordered them on Monday and said they'd be here by the end of the week, but I haven't heard from them yet.
Got my sights installed yesterday and they're great. I wish the tritium dots were bigger like Meprolights, but that front sight, with the orange around the tritium is very easy to pick up quickly. The guy that installed them warned me about shooting them for at least 24 hours. I told him I would do my best, but couldn't promise anything. It was nice being able to see my gun on the nightstand in the dark again last night.

I've been extremely pleased with my 26 and 19. I outfitted both with TR Graham's match grade slide lock. The 26 came with factory night sights and I put Ameriglo straight eight style sights (no longer on their website, but similar to the GL 433) - I love these sights, hi-viz day and night sight combo. Also did the bicycle tire inner tube wrap on the grips on both. My only FTE came from me limp wristing during a four point draw exercise where we were shooting from the 2 position.

Those bicycle tire inner tubes don't get slippery when your hands are sweaty?

No, and my hands do get sweaty. They do take some work getting on. If you don't like them your cost is only a couple of bucks and the sore fingers from putting them on.

That's interesting. I wonder why they don't. I wouldn't want to put them on any of mine because they would probably make the grip too big, but that's interesting.

I have warren tactical 2 dot night sights on my G23 and have been pleased. Very fast target acquisition. Probably close to 3000 rds and never a problem.

after upgrading my trigger with the 3.5# connector LWD and a .25 trigger job Its smooth sailing. I went to the range this weekend and upped my round count to about 1000 + or - I now trust this pistol enough for edc. Im waiting on my crossbreed for now so its just my truck gun during the day and nightstand gun for my wife at night. still contemplating sights but def. see a long, happy, healthy relationship with my new found friend, the glock 26!

Unfortunately I have recently discovered the potential awesomeness of the Glock 30, SO the g26 shall most likely be passed on to the misses...

Oh no Im a Glock fan
