So it's not scientific, but has anyone ever had their car broken into that had an NRA sticker on it?

My car spent 4 years in a college parking garage and was the only place I was allowed to keep my guns. I kept them locked up and hidden, and since I've been driving I've never had a vehicle break in of any sort. Only sport college stickers and an old car club sticker.

How about y'all? (this isn't a gotcha thing, I don't think it's proof of anything one way or the other, I'm just curious)

I usually have my NRA sticker in the corner of the window opposite my Narrow Trail Cowboy Church one, but since I have TSRA license plates, with my ham radio call letters on them, I don't think I would be hiding much by not putting them on.
I keep hearing this argument, but I only hear anecdotal speculation about whether it increases break-ins. I really see no solid evidence supporting it.

I don't have any NRA stickers, but only because I'm loathe to stick ANYTHING on my cars. I do, however, have a TSRA plate (I don't have a cool ham call letter set like Jim does though -- dude, it even ends in NRA, how awesome is that? :woohoo ).

If you don't have a TSRA plate, I recommend getting one. 2/3rds of the extra fees help a great cause for Texas shooting sports! (details, as always, are in my sig :txflag: )

I think an NRA sticker would look good inside of the "O". ;-)

I "inherited" a Prius. I have a general presumption that most Prius owners have a "holier than thou", "I'm saving the planet" attitude. So not only do I have the NRA sticker on the window (never on the paint), I also have NRA plate holders on front and back, and TSRA magnet on the trunk lid. Can't have anyone thinking I'm one of them thar liberals.

Also, about the only time I have a gun in my car is when I'm in it. So someone can break in all they want. They will find precious little of any value in there. I really don't keep much in it except jumper cables in the trunk, trash (in the "bin" at my feet), and a towel in the back seat. Oh yeah - a large MagLight and an umbrella, too.

All the gun stickers I have are in my gun room. Rarely leave a gun in my car except at work, but don't want someone braking a window to see what I have in the car.

Same here. I don't leave anything valuable in my truck and like you, I don't want to risk someone thinking I am carrying a gun and busting out a window to find out.

It is the same concept as not leaving shopping bags where they can be seen in your vehicle. bad guys don't like wasting time any more than good guys. They will always gravitate torward the more promising target. I don't want to do anything to look like a promising target.

There is no point in asking for trouble with a "gun on board" sticker and anyone who thinks they are scaring a bad guy away with that sticker is kidding themselves.

I don't put stickers on my car lest the resale value be affected by the sticker or residue. I also prefer to be incognito. I do have a few pro 2A magnets inside my jeep.

ROFL! Missed that one when I was reading the first time.

In 1966, when I bought my first brand new car, while we signed the papers, they took it out back to "prep" it and when it pulled up out front, it had the dealership's tag on the trunk lid. I told them that that was not the car I paid for and I wanted MY car. The salesman got all defensive, of course it was the same car and so on, and then I pointed out that the one I paid for did not have that tag on the trunk, and that was the way I wanted it, unless they wanted to pay me the NASCAR rate for doing their advertising for them. This was actually something I had discussed with a couple of fellow volunteer firemen during the previous week, so I was prepared going in.

They probably could have saved themselves money by paying me the NASCAR rate for that size logo.

"Why?" You ask. Well, back then, when they put the dealership logo on your car, they drilled holes in it and used pop rivets to put it on, so they had to repair the holes and repaint the entire trunk lid, but they did it.

I never had the car serviced there.
